My name is Kimberly Peck, and I am an organic free-range photographer from the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire. I am so excited to launch my Locally Known project here on Kickstarter, and I can’t wait to share my photography with you! First, I want to thank you, dear reader and video watcher, for taking interest in my project, and thank you to Kickstarter for this awesome site to make this project pitch!

My Project
My project, Locally Known: a photographic celebration of our local farmers, will connect farmers and communities through the narrative of documentary photography. Farms are the backbone of New England ~ Being raised in a small Vermont town with many family-owned farms, I naturally gravitate to farms and a down-to-earth approach to living. I love the beauty of farm life, the ever-evolving, deeply-rooted connection between human, animal and plant. Inspired by its historical tradition, a profound respect for the locally grown, and my own artistic desire, Locally Known will take you on a visual journey through the foods and farms of New England, chronicling the stories of the farmers and celebrating their hard work, passion & commitment through the power of photographs.
In 2011, I began photo journaling local farms in the hopes of illuminating both the local food resources available in the community as well as the folks behind the amazing food on our dinner plates. The response received from this regularly-featured series was phenomenal and the demand to look wider and deeper has been heard. As a result, I am looking to expand both the region and scope of my work, continuing to capture the delightfully diverse stories of farms & food in New England and sharing them with an ever-growing audience.

Where will your money go?
For the past year, Locally Known has been completely self-funded and very much a labor of love. Since its inception in 2011, I have been able to photograph over 20 farms, and your support will aid me in the enthusiastic continuation of Locally Known and its work. It is my goal to not only photograph more farms and meet more farmers, but to create & organize regional exhibitions of my work as well as design & publish the Locally Known coffee table/art book and Locally Known Calendar full of captivating photographs from this project. The calendar and the book are offered as a thank you to contributors over $100, and they will also be available for purchase. By backing my project, you will be helping me to successfully create & continue my Locally Known series, and, as an extra special treat, you will receive my original art in one form or another!
With your generous backing, I will be able to:
1 - Photograph, interview & document additional farms during the 2012 growing season
2 - Travel further to local farms, both in New Hampshire & the surrounding New England area.
3 - Create & organize regional exhibitions of the photographs
4 - Hire a local graphic designer, design & publish a limited edition Locally Known coffee table/art book, featuring my photographs & interviews from the Locally Known farms & farmers, plus original recipes using local New England ingredients.
5 - Hire a local graphic designer, design & publish a 2013 Locally Known 12-month calendar, using photographs from the series. Each farm in the calendar will have their name & location listed.

Great question! Here is the answer: $4500 for the design, publication & distribution of the Calendar & the Coffee Table Art Book, plus the cost of prints, frames and travel for regional exhibits. $1000 for Kickstarter & Amazon Fees, plus shipping rewards to my happy contributors. $1500 for me to travel & photograph New England farms, plus the time to edit photographs, archive photographs & create the calendar & book. **Please keep in mind that the farms I photograph, and have photographed, have not paid me in any way to document their farms. They receive absolutely free marketing through my project. I have not received any money for my Locally Known project - it has been self-funded since the beginning, even when it was in the local newspaper. They did not pay me, nor put me on the payroll, to run my Locally Known series. This has been a purely self-funded labor of love :)
