About this project
Each week, longtime fly fishing guide and comedian Scott Thompson is challenged to a fishing contest by a celebrity or angling professional on their home water. The challengers will be bass fisherman, walleye fisherman, saltwater fisherman, even noodlers! Challengers can use any legal method to fish, but Scott can only use a fly rod! The show is divided up into a series of fishing challenges that each angler can score points in. For instance, the anglers have to ride up the mountain on horseback, catch 5 fish, and then ride back down in time...of course Scott has figured out a way to cheat and has taken the short cut in a truck! The show will air nationally on Sportsman Channel. (We already have approval from the network to air the episodes once they are finished. For a copy of this approval letter, just ask and we will email it to you.)
His nemesis is the ever watchful eye of Fly vs. Guy comedian referee Dave Shirley. Dave is always on the lookout for Scott's devious plans and whenever he catches him, he penalizes Scott by putting him deep in the hole and at risk of losing the competition. Dave introduces all of the challenges and makes the official rulings, which will of course keep the audience and our guest laughing.
What you will see is Scott doing everything he can to gain an advantage. He'll dive into the opponent's world and find out anything he can use to help him win. Halfway through the show, you'll see Scott and Dave visit a cool area attraction and interview some of the local employees in a fun and quirky way. If you like Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs, you will love Scott and Dave in this segment.
Then it's back to the action. The drama builds and the stakes get higher as Fly vs. Guy builds to a dramatic and entertaining conclusion. If Scott loses, the consequences are either very painful or humiliating and chosen by Dave the referee! Picture Scott running around a baseball field in an inflatable Sumo costume as major league players hit balls at him.

Connected as Scott Thompson (1307 friends)
Scott is the funniest professional fly fisherman you will ever meet. He has guided in Jackson Hole and througout Colorado for years. He is also the fly fishing field editor for fishexplorer.com. His talents as a writer, director, actor, and improvisational comic are just as impressive as his skills with a fly rod. Scott was classically trained as an actor at Colorado State University. This eventually led Scott to his true love, comedy. His first gig out of college was with Comedy Sportz of Denver and it was here that he learned his impeccable sense of comic timing. He has performed with 9 different comedy groups over his 20 year career.
Dave has been performing comedy on his own terms for over 25 years. He has been seen in national commercials for the PGA, Dish Network, Encore and many more. In 2002 he founded Denver's own Rattlebrain Theater where he wrote and directed every one of their highly acclaimed original comedies. The Denver Post called him “the master at creating a comedy show.”
