EMMA is a platform for talented, young, predominately unknown artists and critical thinkers.  

Each issue will be curated by Emma Rae and Emma Harden.

THE MAGAZINE

EMMA magazine is the first project for us as a design duo. Living in NYC with a shared interest in bookmaking, design, printmaking, art and art theory- starting a magazine seemed like a natural progression for us. By publishing our first magazine we will be promoting our friends, getting in contact with many people that we respect, learning a lot about business, and teaching ourselves design. 

OUR PLAN

By raising $9,000 we will be able to print and bind the first issue of EMMA magazine. We will release the first issue in January of 2013.  The majority of this money will be used to print the magazine with a printing house in the Netherlands. The remainder will be used to purchase a glue binder which will facilitate the binding of each issue in house by Emma and Emma. Your pledges will allow us to bring the magazine into full production with over 800 copies printed and an official website to exist alongside the physical print product. This is the bare minimum necessary. If we reach our goal all extra funding will be put towards our next issue and will help secure the future of EMMA magazine.

WHY

We are practical people who are project oriented. We see a need for a magazine made by young people, promoting other young people, informed by the work that we see around us, the post-college blues, and mid-twenties confusion. EMMA magazine has the work of over twenty young and very talented artists. This work deserves to be taken seriously and to be shown with integrity.

 This is what we hope EMMA magazine will do.

EMMA will be published tri-anually and will feature around 20 artists in each issue.   

Using a simple and clear aesthetic we would like to let the content speak for itself.  

It will be glue-bound by Emma and Emma in-house each with a unique hand silk-screened cover. 

Following the launch of EMMA we will create a downloadable PDF issue and an accompanying website.

YOUR SUPPORT

With your support we will be able to move EMMA magazine into full production.
Your support will cover the costs of printing, binding, website hosting, and distribution. If we surpass our Kickstarter goal your support will help EMMA magazine grow and will facilitate the creation of issues to come.

For our first issue we sent out an open call for submissions to all of the artists we know. We received over 200 images over the course of one month.
