Discover the hidden and independent side of Tokyo’s art scene in this book featuring more than 30 contemporary Japanese artists.

What is The Tall Trees of Tokyo?

It's an art book. We have assembled a collection of artists from Tokyo who represent the independent side of contemporary Japanese art in a book that showcases their unique talents and styles.  The title comes from the Japanese proverb "The tall tree catches much wind," which is a reminder that to stand apart is to invite risk.  The artists featured in this book boldly stand apart from the established traditions and conventions of mainstream Japan. They embody a new generation of independent Japanese artists.
