Expresso Coffee will be a downtown performance space and art gallery dedicated to promoting young and as yet undiscovered artists.

A place where:
- the passion and creativity of youth are nurtured and encouraged
- a venue where young musicians have a stage that is dedicated to the eXpression of their talent
- where an eXplosion of paint interrupts white walls
- where physical manifestations of sculptors' dreams extend from the floor.Imagine all of this, complimented by the taste and aroma of exceptional coffee and pastries or eXquisite pairing of soup and panini sandwiches.
What you are imagining...is EXpresso Coffee.
Your support on Kickstarter will go to support the following:
- Audio Equipment for the recording of a live CD.
- Remodeling the space in order to create an art gallery that is customizable to each artist's work as well as an elevated stage.
- Production cost for the full length live CD of featured musicians.
- Production cost for a calendar of the artists featured through out the year of the project.
At the end of the year, EXpresso Coffee will produce:
- A 15 month calendar featuring 13 young artists (Drea Bolen, and 12 others selected by a panel of judges throughout the year).
- A 4 song EP by Tyree Morgan
- A 12 song live CD of selections from young musicians to be selected by a panel of judges throughout the year.
After the project year ends, EXpresso Coffee will continue to produce an annual calendar and live CD as an ongoing venue for youth in the arts.
An opportunity for eXposure...
This social venture will literally use the cafe venue to fuel the creativity of youth. The cafe will give employment preference to young artists and use a profit sharing program to provide them with substantial enough compensation to allow them time to focus on their craft.
A place for eXceptional music...
Young musicians who are typically excluded from other venues because of their age will no longer be limited to performing at school and church. They will be able to perform at an all-ages open mic night. EXceptional young musicians will be selected to perform as featured performers on Saturday nights. Vocalists young and not-so-young will be able to share the stage and enjoy a karaoke night without the pressures of alcohol. At the end of the year, a live compilation CD will be produced featuring one song from each featured artist.
Walls to eXplore eXemplary art...
Each month, a panel of local arts professionals will choose an artist to be showcased on the walls of the cafe. At the end of each year, EXpresso Coffee will produce a calendar featuring the works and biography of each month's artist. EXpresso Coffee will host a gallery opening and closing event that will give the audience an opportunity to experience the art under the guidance of the mind that created it. Artists will also be able to sell their work from the cafe without a consignment fee.
EXpresso Coffee will reach out to local organization like Pittsburgh CAPA, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Point Park University, The Manchester Craftsman's Guild and other local schools and organizations to ensure that young artists and musicians are made aware of this eXcellent opportunity for eXposure.

We've teamed up with a local young artist and young singer/song-writer to help kick of the creativity.
For the first few months of business, the unique recycle/reuse art work of Drea Bolen will be displayed on the walls of EXpresso Coffee. Drea will be creating five original pieces of recycled art based on our theme, "Coffee...fueling creativity." Imagine a replica of Botticelli's Venus or DaVinci's Man painted on a coffee filter canvas using various coffees for the various shades and hues. These five brand new pieces are available to backers at the $7,500 level with and eXplosion of other fun rewards.

It can be. This was asked on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fuelingcreativity. The idea is for real...we need to reach our funding goal, however, in order to really make this happen.

If we reach our full funding goal, your card will be charged on June 13th. If we don't reach our goal, you will not be charged anything.

Kickstarter currently only allows one pledge per person. If you would like to get multiple rewards, for instance, you own a business in downtown and want to pledge at the Destiny's Cup level, and also want the "Advertising Executive" reward, simply add the totals together and select "No Reward." We will e-mail all backers to get the details of their desired reward level on June 14th (if we are funded).

Yes. There is a long list of reasons why we believe that downtown is the only option for this. We have a location selected and are in the bidding process for the space. If we don't get this space, we have several secondary choices to choose from.

On June 14th, if we are funded, we will post instructions for submission on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/fuelingcreativity. Submissions will be collected until September 1, and the first artist will be featured during the month of October.

A major focus of Expresso Coffee is to promote artists and musicians who would otherwise not have a significant opportunity to display their work due to school and/or age. Our target age range is 14-27. Minors will need to have a waiver signed by their parents in order to be a featured artist/musician.
