About this project

In 2009 Mariah, Dusty, and Lisa collaborated on their first project together. The result was a 30 minute oral history documentary, Grandma's Hands, exploring the life and legacy of their grandmother. The film had a successful premier in Honesdale, and the team agreed to take on another project in partnership with The Wayne County Historical Society. A Legacy of Glass is an oral history documentary featuring local glass expert Ray LaTournous.

Ray LaTournous has been recognized for his work in glass and is considered a foremost expert in Brilliant Period Glass (1876-1917) as well as a leading authority in Dorflinger Glass and it’s history. Now at the age of 84 Ray recounts his years as a glass artist and curator of the Dorflinger Glass Museum. Along with his deep family history in glass Ray has pursued a personal passion for glass and the need to preserve its history.

Ray's firsthand account is a valuable source of information about our local history and we feel that it is important to document his wealth of knowledge so that it can be shared with generations to come.

We have filmed our interview with Ray and his family members. We would now like to interview the current curator of the Doflinger Glass Museum and local historians to help bring the story together.  Our goal is to have the film ready for release by the end of this summer.

We now turn to you, our community, to help us complete the project. We need funds for post production of the film, to collaborate with a local musicians, to package the DVD, and to submit the documentary to carefully selected film festivals.
