About this project

Our Story: "Old Dirt" is a short narrative film from writer/director Tim O'Brien, cinematographer Bryan Rogers and producer Katie Flynn. Filming will take place around the San Diego area in early January of 2012. It was accepted into Emerson College's BFA program earlier this year. Tim, Katie and Bryan have worked together previously on the peer-acclaimed web series "4 Iroquois". They have never fought. Not once.

Synopsis: The film is a glimpse into the lives of three young men: Geo, Max and Sid. By day, they attend funerals, enjoying the free food and drinks presented after the service. By night, the boys exhume recently buried coffins and strip them of their valuables. It's a tidy business, pawning jewelry and selling second-hand coffins to a local scumbag named Ike. With the rent paid, food on the table, and beer in the fridge, the boys seem to have found their calling. But this life they have cultivated cannot sustain itself forever and the boys will soon face a reckoning for their transgressions.

The Funds: Your donations will go towards the production of the film. We are flying a crew and some of the cast from Boston to San Diego, which of course is very expensive. We needed to shoot away from the East Coast because the dusty aesthetic expressed in the script could not be accomplished in New England. After plane tickets, the money will be used for equipment rentals, production design, securing a van, location fees, craft services and post production costs. Your donations will make all of this possible!!

Connected as Katie Flynn (608 friends)

Writer/Director Tim O'Brien was raised in Canadian back-country by Tuscarora Indians, where he learned to gamble and suck the fat off wild boar. Tim moved to America in 1999 after guerrilla encounters with Cowboys and Communists. In America, Tim learned how to dance. He kidnapped a mother, a father, and a sister of similar build and intelligence. Tim is now six feet two tall and has a size twelve shoe. He drinks club soda with no ice at classy restaurants and wears sunglasses to Church.

Producer Katie Flynn was born and raised 5 minutes from the beach in San Diego, but can't swim to save her life. She loves to cook and has her own food blog (check it out! www.whatkatiescooking.com). Katie lives by the mantra "Work Hard and Be Nice to People."
