The world has perished. Whether the blame is put to man or something greater, one thing is certain: Nothing is ever what it seems.
How in the world do you create a new age zombie book that successfully separates it from the rest in its genre? Simple, you throw away everything the reader knows about zombie books and build a whole new foundation.
Chosen and Forsaken is not a "zombie" book... Well, not really. In telling this story, I wanted to create a world where zombies existed, but weren't the prime focus.
Chosen & Forsaken does that very thing by breaking the barriers that many zombie books rely on. This is not people surviving the undead, this is not trying to pick up the pieces and start all over again. This is simply existing in the face of ultimate adversity.
So, how exactly does this book differ from the others you may have read? I wanted to bring new life to the genre by making the zombies a bi-product and not the end result. Instead of the center stage, zombies take just a small part of the larger picture that's brought about by the four horseman of the apocalypse.
Incorporating the four horsemen opens an infinite number of doors in the storytelling. There are literally no limits to what you can do. For that very reason, I decided to bring in every religion and not to stick to one. Each horseman is a deity or figure from a separate religion and those ideas lay on top of a foundation of more mainstream beliefs. This is not a religious book and doesn't teach a moral point. The story simply incorporates things from each religion or belief system, and moves on to more fruitful killings and more twisted story lines.
Dong Beniga Jr introduces the readers to the zombies and the team that we focus on and then Armando Rillo Sr. steals away the focus with his new age four horseman. All this talent is brought to life by Vladimir Popov and his coloring ability.
Any money raised will be used solely to promote, advertise and produce copies of the book. This series was a lot of fun to write and has been great to see it come to life.
