An intricate novel entwined with love, death, betrayal, nonstop conflict, and a fight for all life.
Many of us, if not all of us have heard of the Lord of The Rings trilogy and dreamed we were right there alongside them through the whole journey every step of the way. With this book, I have poured hours and hours of my time to make a comprehensive world with characters to identify with on all levels. Some shall come to be hated, others shall come to be loved, and some of them shall keep everyone guessing until the end. I plan on making this a trilogy as well and using the realm for more books down the road.
In this book, two factions are vying for supremacy over the other The Kingdom of Falladon, and the Empire of Duracus. Meanwhile, the Dwarven tribes have withdrawn to their mines, and the Elven people have secluded themselves within their protected forests. Also in the book are Barbarians, Pirates with high sea swashbuckling action, Sand Dwellers, Trolls, and Demons. I dare not give away too much. The book is going through its' final edit and is almost complete.
The book will weave through various views almost as George RR Martin has done in his series the 'Song Of Fire and Ice'. Taken along the paths of each side, everyone will develop a powerful interest to them on so many levels. Everything is extraordinarily detailed and mapped out to make the reader feel like they are beside them and right there in the action when it hits! I'll keep every reader on the edge of their seat for a wild ride to the end, never wanting to put the book down until it is over and even then I hope all will read it again and again. Please help me to show the world something new and exciting for all!
I will post updates of progress on the book periodically to keep my followers in the loop, and when the book is to be shipped for your donations. Afterwards, I will start a website for fans and the public to stay up-to-date on the second book and more. I'd like to Thank everyone in advance for this opportunity!
From Jamie Erwine: Are you able to post a sample of your writing, preferably an excerpt from the book, so that potential backers can get a feel for the story and your style?
Jamie I most certainly can, and thank you for asking this question! Here is and Excerpt from Chapter 23 of my novel that will hopefully leave you all desiring for more.
A slow steady drip of water could be heard echoing through the darkness, interrupted only by the screeching of the hinges on a rusted iron door as it opened. A torch entered through the gap of the doorway, its flame flickering wildly as the stale air rushed through. Light illuminated the narrow passageway, quickly reaching its limits trying to protect the bearer from the encroaching pitch black atmosphere. Before stepping through onto the slick worn cobblestone floor the figure wrinkled his nose in disgust at the putrid stench of excreted human waste that filled his nostrils.
The corridor was simple in nature, straight with only a solid latched door every few yards. Mold covered the walls on both sides and the air felt damp to the skin. Undeterred by any of this, the figure moved onward, seemingly set on reaching his goal. As the figure walked, he took note that each of the latches on the doors were rusted over and the torch holdings on the walls were littered with cobwebs, showing signs that light had not visited this place in quite some time. Near the end, the corridor seemed to shrink, as if the walls were closing in around you, but just as it seemed he would have to crawl to carry on, he noticed a nook in the wall on the opposite side of where a door should have been.
Sliding into the nook, he soon realized it was another path but far too narrow to walk normally in. So, forced to shuffle sideways, he held the torch in front of him and kept moving. The faint sound of running water reached his ears after a time. Just then his foot managed to kick a small rock as he shuffled sideways. Following it with his eyes, he watched as it dropped off a ledge into nothingness, waiting to hear a sound of it hitting bottom. His nerves tensed as nothing was heard. Taking more caution now, the figure worked out onto a thin ledge overlooking a massive underground fissure. He took a deep breath and hugged the wall for dear life, knowing full well one misplaced step could be his last.
Finally reaching a wider foothold, he came to a portion of the fissure that had a bridge spanning its width. Inching a foot at a time, testing the sturdiness of it and finding it to be sound, he quickly crossed. Once on the other side, the bridge mysteriously collapsed, leaving no return. "Well that’s just great," muttered the figure. Sighing, he waved the torch to the left and then to the right trying to get his bearings. Still hearing the running water, he determined that it was to the left and moved on.
After hours or even an entire day for all he knew as there was no way to tell time down there, the figure came to a bend in the path, the water now roaring like an untamed lion ripping its prey to pieces. He spotted a circular platform over water with a cascading waterfall rolling over into the fissure. In the center of the platform, there stood a lone cloaked figure illuminated by moonlight coming from a hole in the cavern ceiling. Immediately his guard went up. Steeling his nerves, he unlatched a rondache from his back and slowly drew his blade from its sheath, avoiding any sudden movements.
(Please take note this excerpt has been editted to refrain from having book character names and the reasoning to why he is where is he. I've done this to reduce spoilers. Thank you.)
