Attention All Personnel!

We have reviewed all of the footage and are super excited! Two months of insanity and hard work have really paid off. Now, as we turn to the final stages of the project, we find ourselves with a problem.
As it stands right now we still have enough money left to finish the movie, but it will be tight. We have some really ambitious ideas for the miniature sequences we might not be able to do, and the Beyond the Infinite episode will have to be heavily simplified. We can pull it off, but we are going to have to settle for less than we had envisioned.
Essentially, if we could raise another $5,000 it would make the difference between getting this done and knocking it out of the park.

So here's the plan: we've set up a Paypal donation page on our website. All Paypal donors qualify for the kickstarter rewards and will receive a brand new reward: a digital download of the original graphics we designed for the bridge control displays (see the clip below for examples).
Here's what you guys can do: spread the word! Let everyone know that they can still get in on the project and rewards. If you want to upgrade your existing pledge, you can do it through our website as well (any amount gets you the graphics). The beauty of crowd funding is that every little bit goes a long way.

Here's the link: http://c-themovie.com/support.html
We are dedicated to making this movie all it can be. We have used every opportunity to push and expand our vision, getting the max out of the resources given to us. Now with one last effort, we believe can finish in style and round off a really exciting project.
Thanks again for all of your support!

Hey, what's the status on this? Did you make your $5k goal?
Creator Huan Manton on April 18, 2012
Glad to see you guys are pushing the limits! Super excited to see the results!

@Dustin Lee
The mere act of starting a Kickstarter is an act of greed - asking for more doesn't make it any worse. Don't be a butt.
Creator Daniel Yankowsky on April 17, 2012
One thing to consider: it would be useful to see your progress toward the additional $5k goal on your web page somewhere, much like we saw the progress to the original goal right here on Kickstarter. It doesn't need to be realtime, but updating it every morning or every other day would increase transparency.
Creator Dustin Lee on April 16, 2012
The new footage and screenshots look great, however I have to echo some of the other comments that have been made here. You guys raised $37,000 to make a SHORT film, and now you're asking for MORE money? I've seen some amazing indie feature-length films made for less than that. I can understand how you wanted to expand your vision after doubling your Kickstarter goal, but it looks like you splurged on some unnecessary equipment. Namely, upgrading to a RED when the footage from the 5D MKii already looked amazing. The cost of renting a RED, along with the necessary add-ons and finding capable camera operators, must have eaten up at least a third of the money you raised. Not necessary! The Kickstarter community should not have to pay for your shortsightedness and poor money management...if you need more money, it should come out of your own pocket(s) now. Take out a small bank loan if you have to. I originally donated to this project because I love sci-fi and the concept for "C" looked awesome, and I am sure it will still turn out amazing. However, I believe that you've gotten a little greedy and the Kickstarter community should not have to bail you out after giving you so much already.

Hi Matija
Good questions!
When we raised double what we asked for, we increased the scale of the project. We designed and built bigger more complex sets, upgraded to more capable cameras, which entailed more equipment rentals, and to manage these improvements we increased our crew. So from the outset the "extra" money went straight into expanding the project.
Granted there were areas where we spent more than planned. Set lighting, food, transport and equipment rentals all ended up being more than we had expected. That being said we also saved money in some areas. The key thing here is although we spent a bit more than intended, we made sure to keep enough to finish. We are not falling short, it is just a little tighter then we would like.
We are now asking for more because we want to do more. We are building our ship miniature, but we really want to have some larger versions of certain sections to make the transformation sequences more impressive. We can shoot the basic Beyond the Infinite script, but we want to make it longer and we wanted to capture more inspiring landscapes. We want every element of this project to be as exciting and incredible as we can possibly make it.
If you have any more questions we are happy to answer!
Creator Matija Nalis on April 15, 2012
So what happened? The project raised more than *double* the requested amount of money, and it still seems to fall short. It would be nice if you were to show and explain to us where the money went, where it was spent more than initially planned, and why.
Transparency is important for community funded projects. If you can show people that their money was put to good use, or explain better why more money is needed, it could go a long way...
Creator Clayton Richardson on April 15, 2012
I would invent additional low cost/free to produce rewards for the sub-$50 mark as you're essentially asking everyone to consider re-donating. Adding more incentive for those of us at the $20 could make a big difference. I'll bump to $50 as is.
Creator H Lynnea on April 15, 2012
Wow, sounds like you hit some serious snags! Hopefully, I can kick in some extra. And I'm sure this has been a good learning experience for you all, so you have a better idea of what kinds of little disasters you will budget for on your next project (yes, I am a little ray of sunshine).
Creator Junius Stone on April 14, 2012
Beautiful.
Creator Derek Van Gorder and Otto Stockmeier on April 14, 2012
Hey Guys,
We are going to add everything together. So Ryan will receive the $25 dollar award ($10 + 15) and if Benjamin adds another $5 over the website he will be upgraded to $10!
There is no time limit on Paypal, so we'll keep it open until the release of the film. That being said, we plan to shoot Beyond the Infinite in May and the scale of that is completely dependent on what we can raise now.
Creator Josh Blick on April 14, 2012
Whats the time limit for this as well? Id like to donate but wont be able to until next week sometime.
Creator Benjamin Chan on April 14, 2012
Same question! I'd like to upgrade from the 5 dollar to the 10 dollar KS reward. Should I just "add" 5 more dollars through your website/paypal?
Creator Ryan Kasiski on April 14, 2012
How does upgrading a pledge through paypal exactly work?
I gave $10 here on kickstarter and then sent $15 through paypal.
Creator Derek Van Gorder and Otto Stockmeier on April 14, 2012
That is exactly how it works. As long as we can match your paypal name to your kickstarter name we will add them both together for your final reward tier.
Creator _Zed_ on April 14, 2012
if we were to donate on the paypal page, could we use it to bump up our current pledges instead of getting new ones?
Creator TheChosenOne on April 14, 2012
Double the goal and money short? Either the person in control of the money needs some checking or you do what big contractors do, end up 200% of budget.
Creator Derek Van Gorder and Otto Stockmeier on April 14, 2012
Hi Jay,
Yes, all of the above. After doubling our budget on kickstarter we expanded the film in every direction, adding on tons of cool effects and details. Then during the shoot we ran into all sorts of problems from actors quitting, to cameras breaking to just an endless string of little disasters. Near the end we simply had to make the decision to dip into our miniature and beyond the infinite budgets rather than compromise on the shoot.
We still have enough to finish, but any help we can get at this point will make a huge difference!
Creator Jay Kominek on April 14, 2012
Maybe you could give us some idea why what you got fell short? Did you do more than you'd planned during filming? Overruns somewhere? Unforseen expenses?
Creator MST1987 on April 14, 2012
Just to give you a little shout out from the UK here. I'm a SF writer myself, and I'm really loving the aesthetic and the ambition you guys have. It's really great to see this kind of effort and passion from people with such great vision! Keep it up guys, it's really going to be worth it.
