[CHECK UPDATES FOR THE NEW BUDGET PROPOSAL]
Welcome to C.
C is 299,792 kilometers per second.
C is the speed of light.
C is about the human drive to explore, to break boundaries, to survive.
C is a new way to experience science fiction, forgoing CGI and greenscreen in favor of homemade optical effects.
C is a longtime dream of ours that we are finally making a reality.

This film is the story of an idealistic flight officer who hijacks her spaceship during an interplanetary cold war, and attempts to escape our solar system in search of other habitable worlds. However, when a small group of soldiers led by Second Lieutenant Kai provide unexpected resistance, Malleck’s master plan is threatened. A compelling sci-fi action/drama about one woman's vision for the next logical step in human development: the leap from interplanetary to interstellar colonization.
C proposes a space-age manifest destiny in the shadow of extinction. In an era where science and technology are too often vilified, we believe that science-fiction should inspire us to surpass our limits and use the tools available to us to create a better future for our descendants.

How it’s Made:
"No CGI. No Green Screen. Just Talent, Imagination And Craftsmanship."
"Van Gorder['s] film looks better on screen than virtually any CGI based big budget Hollywood science fiction spectacular of recent years. It'll age better, too.”
- Todd Brown (TwitchFilm.com)
Our vision is to create a dynamic science-fiction film using classic, in-camera special effects. After extensive camera and lighting tests with actors and miniatures, we have created a unique look for our film. By combining the extreme low-light capabilities that new digital cameras provide with more traditional in-camera effects, we’ve achieved a never-before-seen low-key controlled lighting atmosphere. Working with optical effects like these require long hours and a lot of patience, but we believe that this process produces a film with more atmosphere, greater believability, and a sense of timelessness.

[Behind the Scenes]
What We Need from You:
The tests are complete, the designs are drawn, the script is polished, we've cast almost all of the leads, and we are raring to go. We have a trailer and plenty of test footage, but we have a long way to go towards completing production of our short film. To make this happen we need some help. Our expenses will include: space and materials to construct the full sets, props, costumes, equipment, and the inevitable day-to-day costs of film production. The $18,000 we are raising on Kickstarter is what we need to make this film a reality; the more we can raise, the further we can go with our vision. C isn’t a mainstream sci-fi movie, it is a tribute to scientific ideals and a departure from the sci-fi status quo. The only way this movie can happen is through your donations, and in addition to the happy feeling you’ll get by supporting our movie, we have some epic, high-quality rewards!

Mr. Van Gorder and Mr. Stockmeier have been collaborating as a creative team for the past six years. During this time they have developed a nuanced and deliberate style of visual storytelling and a structured approach to production, with a knack for combining concept and resources to achieve the optimal outcome. These skills have enabled them to complete several ambitious film projects, which in turn have earned them FilmColumbia Student Selection Winner in 2007, a Kodak Film Award in 2009, and an IFC premiere in 2011. Having spent time working in New York City and Berlin they are now excited to bring their high standard for concept and execution to this project.
