Update #5: Rewards and Progress
Update #4: Our New Addition
Hello Everyone!
Life has moved at the speed of light through February and March. On February 17th, after Sara spent a somewhat precarious few days in the hospital, we welcomed our first child, a baby boy named Ford Wesley DuBose, into the world! Ford is truly a revelation. He’s changed our lives completely, as everyone said he would. He came a bit early, and we’ve been adapting to his schedule ever since! We’ve never been happier and our lives have never been so full.
On the film front, we are a little delayed getting rewards out, so don’t fret if you haven’t received yours yet. You can expect gifts to trickle into your mailbox throughout the month of April! At the beginning of March, we learned we were rejected by Tribeca. Not a huge surprise, as they took very few non-New York/foreign films this year and even fewer works by first-time feature filmmakers. We were bummed, but to quote a close friend of ours (yes you, Amy): “You can have everything, just not all at once.”
The beauty and challenge of this film is that it is unconventional, and as we march onward with lab, sound, score, and soundtrack work, we do so with the knowledge that for the film to achieve a release, we may need to take just as organic a route with sales as we have with the rest of it. This feature has more widespread audience potential than most festival films, but because it doesn’t have a ‘festival feel’, it may need a truly creative approach to help it reach the audiences who will enjoy it most. And so we have begun re-evaluating our sales strategy. In addition to targeting smaller festivals with high film industry attendance, we are brainstorming ideas for a unique online marketing campaign.
We want to involve you in this process! If you have any fun, creative, smart ideas for how we can market this film to widespread audiences with one millionth the marketing budget of a major studio, please share your thoughts. You don’t have to know a ton about movie marketing to have seen a campaign you thought was clever, or to have a bona fide gem of an idea, so please don’t be shy with your brainpower!
Major thanks as always to each and every one of you who contribute to making this film a success.
In gratitude,
Graham & Sara

Update #2: TriBeCa Submission
Hi Everybody,
We are pleased to announce that we made the deadline for the TriBeCa Film Festival! Usually they announce the line up of films that get accepted sometime in March. We'll keep our fingers crossed. We're very happy with how the edit has progressed and we'll be meeting soon with our sound editor and composers. Thanks again for all of your support!

Update #1: Woo Hoo!!!! You did it! We're Funded!
Thank you so much to everybody for your incredible generosity! This has been a wild ride. Today we have gone from less than 50% and wondering if we would make our goal to over 100%!
Any additional funds we raise past the goal will go towards sound and score, so if friends & family are still considering donating, please encourage them to go ahead. The more the merrier, and the money will be put to very good use as we complete the film and take the next steps toward getting it released!
Thanks again, and have a very Happy New Year!!
~ Graham & Sara

GRAHAM DUBOSE
Writer/Director Graham DuBose is obsessed with history and its characters. His work focuses on the intimacies of the human condition set against the backdrop of larger historical events. Graham studied filmmaking at the Savannah College of Art and Design. There he made his short film SAMSON, a Southern Gothic folk tale. It went on to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. While finishing post-production on THE LAST BEYOND Graham is writing a Western about one man’s quest to overcome the evils of unrestrained greed on the American frontier.
SARA KUSSMAUL DUBOSE
Writer/Producer Sara Kussmaul DuBose is always looking for a challenge. Before heading to Montana with Graham to make THE LAST BEYOND, she founded NuNuMi, an online film market. After that she worked in film, television and commercial production, and managed below-the-line clients at a bi-coastal agency. She is now writing a sci-fi script dealing with human-robot race relations. Sara studied English Literature at Boston University and the University of Oxford and International Politics at the University of Edinburgh.
Graham and Sara - I'm so happy for the both of you and yes, Amy is right. You can have all but not at once. Your precious son Ford comes first and then the rest will follow. I have no doubt that he's been an amazing addition to your lives. I know that Sara's already an amazing mom and as I get to know you Graham, I'll come to know that you're a fantastic father.
I just moved, so anything regarding the film please send to 10 Linwood Street, Apt 3, Saugus, MA
Take care...xoxoxo

Congratulation!s! Finishing a book manuscript, then will begin a new documentary screenplay, so will be very interested the the progress of "The Last Beyond."
Instead of "A" Marketing plan, you might think along the lines of Marketing "Plans." From traditional methods to social media. There must be many target markets for the content of this film.
@Carla: Thanks so much for the support, we really appreciate it! We will make a note of your new address. Hope you are well!
@Jane: Thanks! Congratulations to you on the book, that's great! And thanks for the thoughts on marketing. We will definitely be targeting many niche markets, rather than taking a monolithic approach. While we believe the film has a very broad appeal it does seem that the key to marketing online is honing in on very specific audiences.
