AMP Fest (Or Abstract Music in the Park Fest) is a chance to enrich peoples idea of what music can be in an outdoor public setting.
Ever wonder what it would be like, having a day of abstract sound in the park.
Welcome to AMPfest
AMP Fest stands for Abstract Music in the Park. Abstract basically meaning different than the norm. Ambient, Noise, Progressive, Free, Improvised, Drone, all will be represented and more. It's a chance for a lot of area musicians to meet other people with like minded tastes that may not have known each other. It's also a chance to bring a number of touring bands up that normally wouldn't stop through.
There will be 18 (and maybe counting) different 30 minute performances by various local musicians. We will start at noon and continue till 10 pm at Maritime Heritage Park. After that if overflow and venues allow, it will continue at another space. Also the sun will (probably) be shining and there will be lots of park fun and relaxation. I may even bring a few frisbees. and Hackey Sacs.
This event is happening on June 26th in Maritime Heritage Park.
The money from this Kickstarter will go to paying the permit fees for the park and rental of a backup / night space. Also as this is a free event this will also allow us to give extra money to the touring bands and if it goes really will it will allow for more events like this in the future. I think this will be a monumetal event for the future of abstract music in Bellingham.
