Parks and Places is a Pedalpalooza bicycle race/ride focused on creating renegade art in public areas.
What's a Parks and Places?
Parks and Places Art Races is a competitive alley-cat bike race focused on challenging competitors to work together to create public art installations. Parks and Places also includes a non-competitive bike ride following the race, where spectators can enjoy the art created in the race and add their own touch to each installation.
In 2011, we put together the ride for Pedalpalooza at the last minute with whatever cash we could scrounge together. This year, we want to try to bring to life our original vision for the event with more art installations, bigger ideas for each one, better supplies, and more opportunities for participants to add their own touch to the final product. We hope not just to have fun for one night, but to beautify several popular bike routes with our art projects.
After the popularity of last year's Parks and Places Art Races, we're expecting even more participants this year - both as competitors and as spectators. More participants means more supplies are needed.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to fund this larger vision ourselves. That's where you come in!
What will you do with my hard-earned money?
100% of the money received from this campaign will go toward the art supplies necessary for each art installation. Any funding beyond our goal will be put toward better prizes for race winners, and rewarding our spoke card artists.
