@Silmina that fills me up with a lot of hope. Hopefully that "laundry list" that was mentioned by them will happen 100%.
Creator Silmina on April 30, 2012
The gameplan now is to release Class of Heroes 2 digitally as planned and build a fanbase from there. The KS succeeding would have been a "shortcut" of sorts, and its failure just means that they'll take a slower and longer route to the same end. If there's anything I can say for certain about these guys, it's that they don't give up.
Creator Steve Knight on April 27, 2012
What will you do now that the project has failed to reach the funding goal?
Creator Shen Lu on April 26, 2012
I agree. The thing is, there's a difference between "translation" and "localization." Translation is what you get if you put a script into google translate and try to piece together what they probably meant (and hell, maybe even getting it correct). Localization on the other hand is to bridge cultural differences and come up with something that may or may not be 100% accurate, but makes sense in the target culture. Let's put it this way: a game that is well localized will make sense to people who have no idea what the source culture is like. A game that is only well translated will only make sense to people who are fimilar with the source culture.
Creator Antonio Garcia on April 26, 2012
@Silmina: Indeed. As a translator, one can't just translate on a word per word basis. We must always consider context, intended audience, cultural differences, tone, etc. A literal translation screws things up and will NEVER work as inteded.
Creator Silmina on April 25, 2012
I particularly couldn't agree more about literal translations. Some of the people who ask for them honestly have little idea what it actually entails, and just have it in their head that changing ANYTHING from the original version is nothing less than sacrilege. (Some do know what that entails, but still believe anything less than a literal translation is sacrilege.) But a literal translation just doesn't sound good in English, and ask anyone who speaks more than one language--it will never be as good as understanding the work in its original language. A good translator or editor, however, can create a version that shines in its own right by using English to capture the spirit of the original, and evoke the same feelings and emotions the original did. *That* is a true translation.

Yeah I listened to both podcasts and agree with many of the things Victor is talking about.
