An experimental Super8 horror short with surrealistic visuals punctuating a terrifying ghost story.
UPDATE
Hey Gang!
Let me take a moment to personally thank each and every one of you that contributed to our Kickstarter fund. We are fully financed (based on the goal that I had set for this fundraising method).
I do want you all to know that the $2,250 we raised here represents about 60% (maybe a little bit more) of our total budget on this film. And reaching that goal means a great deal to us.
Many of the people who worked on this film (a great many of them) worked for free. They were not paid, and they will not be paid. Their service was rendered for the betterment of the film. Their materials were covered, but their time and immense talent will only be rewarded by being a part of the production.
I want you all to know that even though we completed Principal Photography this weekend (as we had always scheduled to) this won’t be the end of the updates, as it’s not the end of the Kickstarter.
Even though our project is fully funded, based on our initial parameters, our Kickstarter account must remain open until March 30th, before our backer’s pledges are collected and our post-production/completion funds are released. This is a Kickstarter's rule. Fully funded projects cannot be terminated early so that filmmakers can collect the funds before the stated ending date of the financing. It is our contract to you, when you initially donated, that you would not be charged before March 30th for your contribution.
To that end, based on Kickstarter’s rules, we can, and will, continue to accept pledges, in excess of our goal.
Many projects on here exceed their stated goals, earning 110% to 150% of their original need. Additionally it is important to remember that about 8% of the funds we have raised will be used to cover credit card processing expenses as well as administration fees incurred by using Kickstarter and Amazon.
So, if you have not yet contributed to the film, please consider giving. I assure you, we have a use and a need for your generous donations.
Extra funds not used to cover fees and expenses, will be used to fund our film festival run. It is our goal to have “La Fleur de Mort” featured in several of the world’s greatest film festivals—just like our last production “2:22”.
For those of you who have contributed, we will begin sending our production rewards in early April. (of course the DVD’s will come later, but I will contact each of you that qualified for a DVD after March 30th to get your mailing addresses).
Thank you all again for your time and support!
Tim Anderson Writer/Director/Producer “La Fleur de Mort”
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION
"La Fleur de Mort" is the story of a humble gardener's son in mid-17th century France, who dreams of one day becoming a great artist. He is desperately in love with a beautiful young noblewoman. But when she spurns his advances, he accidentally and tragically kills her. Despondent over her death, he buries her in the family rose garden and leaves town to make his way in the world. Years later, his reputation as a fine painter has grown and the young man is summoned back to the village and commissioned to paint a memorial of the family roses for the Duke and Duchess. But, as he nervously begins his work, he soon discovers that not all secrets stay buried.
This production is really a passion project, and the launch title for a new Orlando, Florida based production company whose goal is to pay homage to early cinema by using techniques and styles that have fallen out of favor with the general filmmaking population in today's more fast-paced digital filmmaking frontier.
Our films incorporate ideas and images prevalent in the American Avant Garde movement as well as techniques and styles of the Silent era. But, despite these conventions, the most important thing to remember is that we are still making modern movies for modern movie audiences. Movies meant to engage, move, terrify and delight our fans. The style may be antiquated, but the stories are timeless and powerful.
"La Fleur de Mort" is an 8 - 10 minute short project which is currently in pre-production, with actual principal photography (filming) taking place beginning the second week of February. The film has been fully cast and costuming and FX have already begun creating the visual materials needed for the production.
The film will be shot on Super8mm Film Stock and sent to Los Angeles for development and transfer to digital format for editing.
The film will be shot on location at the spectacular Ca d'Zan Mansion in Sarasota, Florida, and on a Soundstage in Orlando.
We are looking for completion funds for the film. These funds will be used to finish the film in post production. Any funds raised in excess of our stated goal will be used to finance the films festival run.
It's our hope that you find our project interesting. We certainly do. And, it is our sincere hope that you will take a moment to send us a few dollars (or a lot of dollars) to help us fully realize this amazing production.
