OMG!!!! We're stunned and humbled!
As of this very moment, it's been 24 hours since our Kickstarter campaign launched. We are almost at the halfway mark for our goal. We've had 127 backers pledge $9,141!!
Our goal for the first day was $2,000. We are astounded and can't believe the support that we've received from everyone. Not to be a total girl here, but there were more than a few tears falling yesterday between New Mexico, Maryland and California. (Scott in Washington is too manly for tears. From there we just heard lots of shouts!) Thank you, thank you, thank you! We haven't gotten to everyone yet, but we will acknowledge every pledge over the next week. Those damn day jobs do get in the way!
Now, we've also noted that all of the fabric offerings have flown out the GenQ windows through the pledges. (You Fabric Sluts, you! Remember that it takes one to know one.) We're digging and scraping in the stash to put together a new bunch of bribes--uh, sorry Kickstarter--"rewards" for you all. There's nothing that says you can't pledge again if you're interested. So stay tuned next week for a new batch of pretties, likely in the form of fats and rolls, but not rolls of fat! We're all on diets here for our Market appearances because it looks like we're gonna be there, thanks to all of you!
Lastly, while we can't fall short of our $20,000 goal, because Kickstarter works as all or nothing, we CAN EXCEED our goal. The $20K was carefully trimmed down so as not to cause hyperventilation, mostly on our part, as we launched our campaign. It covers just the costs of going to Quilt Market, running off and shipping about 10,000 copies of the first issue, and the Kickstarter and Amazon fees. If we exceed our goal, we'll be able to bring in some paid freelance help for photography and other tasks. AND we'll be able to pay our incredibly generous and talented designers for what they've readily given to us for free--the quilts and projects designs. We'd really like to do that. So don't hesitate if it's in your heart and your wallet. It will go to very good use, promise.
