It has-for as long as I can remember-been a goal of mine to have a book published. To this day, you will find scattered through my apartment, manuscript after manuscript, notebook upon notebook filled with short stories, poems, and even a novella.
Accompanying that dream however is the dread of not finding a publisher who would carry my left-field writing style or themes. Multiple prospects arose, including one promising publisher based in Toronto, Canada who in the end was unable to publish my book because of funding issues. I refused to settle for 'self-publishing' options like Lulu.com, fearing my work would be absorbed into the masses of books cobbled together by people with the patience to sit at a word processor; I refused to be doomed to obscurity by mass association. The idea to self publish, from that moment was born.
Motivated by a desire to see more of my generation publish their work and feel validated for the emotions compelling them to create, I decided I would start a publishing house. My goal is to exhibit the finest young literature my town has to offer; give these writers a chance, and set gold standard of composition among my generation. Please help me see this to reality, it is not a goal that's going to happen at the stroke of a pen.
Funding for this project will go towards acquiring our printing sources, website, a modest office space, and plenty of coffee to keep me on track.

My name is Dave. I'm a bookworm living in the Southeast United States who wants nothing more than to see more quality work come from the younger generation published, and out into the world. For as long as I can remember I've been a huge proponent of supporting local endeavors, buying local coffee, local beer, local books; and while I stayed away from self-publishing sites like Lulu.com, I still think it's very important that every writer who produces a truly outstanding piece of literature gets his due and isn't doomed to the obscurity of competing with thousands of other writers who are 'writing books' by uploading word documents. I joined Kickstarter because I am looking for at least some cash so as to open up a publishing house dedicated to supporting local writers, enabling them to express their creativity, free from worry that no one will ever see and appreciate the hard work they've created.
