It's my first comic book! Let's celebrate with a launch party in Seattle!
The Comics
"They're good comics that make people feel better! They contain social commentary of sorts," according to a friend I've had since elementary school. That pretty much says it all, with the noteworthy addition that they're made in MS Paint by someone with almost zero drawing ability who thought "pterodactyl" was pronounced "pteradacto" until she was 22.
The Story
Gold Balloons is my first book and an experiment (for me, at least). I'm super nervous (I hope people like them? Are they an accurate reflection of myself? If people hate them, does that mean hate me? Will anyone notice I never draw noses?), but maybe you're supposed to feel exposed by your art.
Seattle is the right place to celebrate the book because that's where my family and friends are: those are the people these stories are about and for. Of course, plenty of my friends live places other than Seattle, so I'll be mailing y'all your books/lighters/cards--complete with glitter/feather stuffed boxes. For everyone that I'll see on the best coast, I'll hand deliver your goodies.
The Money
Will go toward travel expenses, printing costs, and a mean launch party to celebrate!
