I'm sorry -- I do not accept that. Not only have I already subscribed -- REPEATEDLY, and on June 28, 2012, you personally claimed to be validating I was off the email list. Why should I believe you this time, when you clearly have no respect for someone that gave you money to help you get started... I should also point out that you broke the law in the US when you failed to follow the CAN-SPAM act -- I repeatedly requested removal from your spam lists more than 10 days ago, yet you still spam me.

Why do you keep spamming me with crap from hypershop?

i have been trying to get the CloudFTP to work and no luck. and when i email support they are not reading what i am writing. i was one of the original donators. yesterday was the first time i've tried to use the CloudFTP and it does not work. probably need to update the firmware and refresh but it is not working.
downloaded CloudFTP, unzipped, put on a thumb drive, put it in my CloudFTP. it boots up and finishes booting until i see the name i created along with the password. it never says REFRESH. it does, however, read the thumb drive so i know it sees it's connected.
any other ideas on how to get this to work? do i need an intermediate firmware update before i go to version 28? or any other thoughts?
seems like a great idea but not so much if i can't get it to work!!
; -)
thanks

@Daniel I seemed to have lost the charging cable...could I purchase a replacement?
Creator Arnold A Sitorus on July 23, 2012
@Tony Brittan
I don't know the answer but maybe you can look at the forum (cloudftp.freeforums.org) or directly ask the support at Sanho or hypershop.com.

Can anyone tell me how to use mine with the goodreader app? Much appreciated!

Playing with my CloudFTP's - trying to set them up for use as Mac TimeMachine destinations. Updated to firmware v12 (v14 and v20, referred to on the forum are now gone it seems). There is a major bug remaining in the smb protocol (should I use something else for my mac Lion machines?) restricts the usable usb partition to 12.5 MB. Not much help when you have a 320GB (HFS+) drive attached.
This has been much mentioned in the forum but not sure when it will be fixed. The Hyperdrive website seems to only host the v11 and v12 documents but is dead for any other use (at least today).
Hope springs eternal...

I just received my 2 CloudFTP a couple of days ago !!! Woohoo !!! My wife was impressed when I was able to stream a movie from an External HD to her iPad2 :) Just this week I had to manually transfer a movie to her iPad2 through iTunes :( She loves to spend time on our patio using her iPad2, now she can watch a movie out there (it will be great once we get our other KickStarter Product Hidden Radio & BlueTooth Speaker) . I must admit this is very exciting for me since I am a backer of 11 projects and this is my first product through KickStarter ... I ca now tell my friends that "yes these are real projects and real people ... lol" thanks for a great product !!! Go Crowd Sourcing !!!

Have you been to http://www.hypershop.com/v/vspfiles/downloads/WD7START_V14.SEF.zip to get the update? I successfully updated from V12 (of course you need to unzip and rename the file per the instructions http://hypershop.dozuki.com/Guide/How-to-update-firmware-on-the-CloudFTP-/37/1
Creator Ken's Lil' Sister on June 25, 2012
Daniel,
I have my CloudFTP and have tried to update it, please note that your V14 upgrade is impossible to locate. In any event, my Cloud WILL NOT upgrade, I have joined the forum, I have attempted to go through Hypershop and am currently "chatting" with Anthony in an attempt to remedy my problem. The only problem is this, Anthony came on line acknowledged my problem and has disappeared. Please send me a replacement unit.
Thanks

@Daniel -- I was at least hoping you would take notice and attempt to fix things. Guess I will actually file this thing.

Still awaiting mine to arrive, any input in whats taking so long?
Creator aj77 on June 21, 2012
@heckert there is no chance to get an exact details about the refusal. They say something about problems with the powerplug... and the missing German manual ?!?!?!
Also "Die CE-Kennzeichnung wurde bemängelt sowie die EG-Konfromitätserklärung".
Somebody from hypershop retries to send me my cloudftp.
Creator ozymandias on June 19, 2012
@Daniel Chin I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I have repeatedly logged into your website and selected not to receive spam messages, and I have posted on here several times regarding them -- yet I still get spam from Hypershop -- the third party website you forced us to register with to get the devices we paid for.
This is unacceptable, and I believe against the Kickstarter terms of use. This is a terrible way to build a relationship with prospective customers, and supporters.
Creator heckert on June 15, 2012
My so called allegation are based on two facts:
-The post of aj77 stating that german authorities refused his unit
-My own experience with two units. Both units had burned after the 5Vstep up-converter had burned due to inductive overload occuring on load transients.
There was no fuse or current limiting device, so the LiOn-Batt was permanently shorted.
Naturall current flow is excessice in such cases.
The PCB burnt and a blister is documented.
I ended this by dissambling the battery as fast as I could.
How can you say there was no fire hazard?
Are you joking?
Creator Daniel Chin on June 14, 2012
@heckert Your allegations are totally baseless.
CloudFTP has passed the following certifications
CE: http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-7sR2H2N/0/XL/i-7sR2H2N-XL.jpg
FCC: http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-8H9xKwM/0/XL/i-8H9xKwM-XL.jpg
Our first batch of units were NEVER a fire hazard. There were some isolated incidents of fuses/ICs being burnt out but there were no open flames or any danger of fire. These first batch of units were the same units that were sent for testing and received CE/FCC certification.
This comment page is not for customer support enquiries. As mentioned in the updates and product literature, all customer support enquires should be directed to our official website http://www.hypershop.com
Creator heckert on June 14, 2012
addendum
You should consider informing the US authorities about the results of the "Bundesnetzagentur"
Creator heckert on June 14, 2012
@aj77 Both devices, the one of my wife and mine, do under no circumstance operate longer than a few hours without shutting down eventually. This makes them useless and so they are stored somewhere in the cellar.
Yes, it is a shame to ship these units to Europe without complying with our regulations,
this is definitely ILLEGAL!.
The first lot of units were prone to fire hazard, and perhaps this is the reason for the withdrawal of your unit. Although he knew this, Mr Chin did not warn his customers.
And if you read this thread you will quickly discover that generally Mr Chin is reluctant to all kind of customer enquiries.
Besides I would like to know further details for the refusal by Bundesnetzagentur:
-was it security issues ("low voltage directive = LVD)
-was it an issue of electromagnetic compliance ("EMC")
-was it an issue of radio frequencies ("R&TTE")
I wonder if these units are not conform to the European Market regulations, are they conform to the American or Chinese Market either?
,
Creator aj77 on June 13, 2012
@heckert a letter from german customs arrived today.
no chance to get the device! It's not allowed to import the cloudFTP to Germany.
The "bundesnetzagentur" said: es handelt such um win nochkonformes Erzeugnis".
what did you do with the device?
Creator David Katz on June 10, 2012
Hi- Firstly, I'm a satisfied backer, been happily using my CloudFTP with no issues. The two pieces of feedback for an even better experience:
1. Improvement of the software, noticed that a native iOS app is in the works, any projected timeline? My kids struggle with navigating the contents.
2. Combined device - would be great if you combined your cloudftp with your hard drive for apple product. Assuming this is in the works as well, any idea when that will be available?
Thanks!
-Dave
Creator heckert on June 5, 2012
Yes, the Bundesnetzagentur checks IT-equipment and charges the producer in case ot failing to comply with EU-regulations (R&TTE-,LVD- and RoHS-directive). Please let us know the results when they are through.
Creator aj77 on June 5, 2012
@heckert thanks.
the problem is not the CE-sign. the problem is the missing german manual, missing translation of the declarations shipped with the unit and so on...
so my cloudFTP has to be approved by some agency called "Marktüberwachungsbehörden" and because there is WLAN in the unit, the agency "RegTP" has to check the unit, too.
this takes about 3 weeks, but I don't have to pay anything for that ;-)
after these 3 weeks, the agencies decide to destroy or not destroy - that's the question ;-)
Creator heckert on June 4, 2012
@aj77 Yes, I live in Germany. Did not have that problem with customs since CE-marking is on the boxes now. But I encountered problems with customs with the first charge with no markings and no envoice at all. Could save you hours of spoiled lifetime if customs destroy your CloudFTP.
Creator aj77 on June 4, 2012
Hello,
is there anyone from Germany, who got the CloudFTP?
I got some customs declaration, that there is a problem with "Kennzeichnungsvorschriften nach den Produktsicherheitsgesetzen" (eng: marking requirements of product safty act).
@daniel: the CE-sign is on the box, isn't it? so what can we do, if customs have to destroy my CloudFTP?
Creator Epactal Claviger on June 3, 2012
There is a serious need for consolidation of support and services with this project. This project has now been spread over KickStarter.com, hypershop.com, freeforum.org, and views.fm. I would not have expected a project, backed by a successful(?) corporation to be running support in such a manner. A project backed by one cash-strapped person running the entire thing out of his apartment would be another matter. Is there any reason why this could not have been kept to KickStarter.com and hypershop.com? Is there a timeline in place to consolidate all the information and support to 1 or 2 sites maximum?
Creator heckert on June 3, 2012
Hi Daniel
Meanwhile I did some tests with USB pendrive plugged in and continous power injection to the charger socket. On-time was several ours, instead of ten minutes without USB-storage. This is still not what I expect and both units are not usable permanently. Firmware version is 1.4. Will you please fix this bug?
Creator Arnold A Sitorus on June 2, 2012
Thanks for a quick reply.
That makes sense.
Creator Daniel Chin on June 2, 2012
Standard micro USB slots can only take up to 5W (5V, 1A) power. CloudFTP with its faster processor and higher capacity internal battery, is powered by a 10W (5V, 2A) port.
Creator Arnold A Sitorus on June 2, 2012
The 'cost effective version' has a micro USB port to power it, why can our CloudFTP have it instead of round connector port?
Creator Daniel Chin on June 2, 2012
@heckert The "statement" that you are talking about was made by our then competitor from compactdrive.com and eastgear.com to discredit us back in 2005. If you look at those websites, they bear no semblance to what we are doing now at Sanho/HyperDrive/CloudFTP.
Creator John Tsai on June 2, 2012
@Daniel
Thanks for the info!!! Good to know it is legit and the differences between the cloudFTP we have and the cost effective version!!!
Creator Daniel Chin on June 2, 2012
@John Tsai The other product is legit and as mentioned in the article, is a cost effective version of CloudFTP built and marketed specifically to the Chinese market. It is not available outside China. Every aspect of the product is adjusted to reduce the product cost. The key differences are a slower processor, slower bandwidth (2MB/s vs 3MB/s), smaller internal battery (1800mAh vs 2600mAh), smaller internal flash (8MB vs 16MB), no support for WiFi infrastructure mode, DLNA and upcoming Dropbox, API and 3rd party apps.
Creator heckert on June 2, 2012
Hi Daniel
Talking about fakes. On your site "hypershop.com" looking under "about us" I discovered "China Office" with a link to Sanho, China.
It is interesting to to read their statement, dated 2005:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp…
Obviously you use their name and site link to pimp up your own reputation -
or do you have another explanation for this?
Creator John Tsai on June 2, 2012
Hi Daniel,
I saw this on Chinese Website, not sure if you can read Mandarin, but basically they are saying that this is a version of CloudFTP that Sanho specifically designed for Chinese Market. I went to google for it, and even went to Sanho website (Since I thought if it were legit, we would have been told about this on kickstarter or on the forum, but we didn't.) Personally, I just want to let you know about this "potential" copy of cloudFTP. If you google the name, you will even find bunch of clips that says the name of this product, but it is actually the clip from CloudFTP kickstarter page!!! Hope this can help to prevent fake CloudFTP.
If this is legit, can you share the differences between this and the CloudFTP?? (besides the obvious card reader slot!)

@Daniel Chin -- seriously, *STOP* spamming your backers. We were kind enough to give you money to make your product, and then register on your sales site to make it easy for you to track pledges -- so *why* do you insist on spamming us? I have asked this before -- in fact every time you spam us, I go in to your website and unregister from the spam mail, and complain here --but you keep signing me back up and spamming me! That is a terrible way to manage your relationship with customers -- now I don't want to buy anything from you because you are a slimy internet salesman, and do not respect your customers.
Creator Artem Gerasimov on May 31, 2012
Last week I received a CloudFTP. Very pleased with it work with my iPhone. Watching streaming video directly from the stick through the OPlayer. However MKV 720p and above, the video lags behind audio and retarding. Most likely due to the small buffer in the player. Checked with friends, a simultaneous game of the same video file with the three devices - everything works fine!
But not quite correctly displayed in the web interface devices for Android, but on iOS everything is perfect.
I do not understand how to connect to the CloudFTP Dropbox :(((
I wonder if in later firmware versions the ability to connect 3G/LTE modems...?

Hi Daniel
Today my wife received her replacement unit per Fedex. I am sorry to say that this behaves not better than mine did some days ago: After 10~11 minutes it auto-shuts-down. I checked this for several times, always with that result. And yes, the charging LED was green and the auto-shutdown button was set to "never" - being the factory setting.
What can I do?
