Pressing the new Archipelago album, Good As Gone, on vinyl and shooting a music video for the first single, "The Mast."
My name is Peter, and I am the singer/songwriter/producer of the music project, Archipelago. I've spent the last two and a half years writing and recording a new album called Good As Gone to be released on Really Records, but my production team and I need to offset some of the costs of pressing the album on vinyl and printing artwork. We also want to promote the album by making an incredible music video to be filmed by Chris Parker for the first single, "The Mast".
Producing an album and shooting a music video can certainly be accomplished with a relatively small budget (see video above), but we also don't want to cut any corners or create anything less than a high quality product for our audience. All of the money that you contribute will be used in the following ways:
Pressing the album on vinyl, which includes:
- Plating
- Labels printing
- Sleeves
- Jackets
- Press setup charges
- Test pressing charges
- Vinyl records
- Shrink wrap
- Stickering and inserting
- Shipping and handling charges
Shooting a music video, which includes:
- A Studio
- Lighting, grip, & camera equipment
- Set building (props, paint, etc.)
- Production expenses (feeding the crew, transportation, etc.)
- A fancy director's chair for Mr. Naddeo
If enough people contribute, on top of the listed rewards, everyone can look forward to the following bonuses at each of these milestones:
- $5,000: All backers get a digital download of "Good as Gone" (even if we don't reach our goal)
- $7,000: "Good as Gone" will be posted publicly online for free download for 1 year
- $9,000: Open bar at the record release show
- $10,000: "Good as Gone" will be posted publically online for free download forever

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There are certainly some risks that go along with this project, as they do with any endeavor. We could all die for some reason. I don't think I need to explain all the various ways in which this is possible, but I can guarantee that we are all relatively qualified and experienced at avoiding death when necessary. Frankly, one might even consider this whole project a poetic how-to guide to keeping oneself alive.
I'll also probably be personally challenged deciding what to wear in the music video. What if I look stupid? Fortunately, I've had a fair amount of experience dealing with this as well.
