Synopsis

Brothers Ace and Jim fight to salvage their broken relationship. When Ace betrays Jim by competing in the demolition derby, coming together and reaching the starting line becomes the brother’s greatest challenge yet.

About Derby Kings

After attending my first demolition derby at the Nevada State Fair in 2009, I was instantly fascinated by this unique American ritual. I became intent on shooting a film set in this world. Last summer, to research and gather insights about the derby community, my brother and I attended six demolition derbies in Northern Nevada and California. We shot a documentary on the topic and were further inspired by the sport.

I've been energized by all of the fantastic people I've met along the way and couldn't be more passionate about telling this story, about two demolition derby drivers, through the fiction form. After a year and a half of hard work - location scouting, writing and re-writing - we are ready to rock...but...we need your support to make it through the production.

Where Does the Money Go?

We've already secured a bunch of in-kind donations. Many friends, family and people from the Reno film community will be supporting this project by donating their time, equipment, and/or services. Plus, my mom promised to make sure that no one goes hungry on the shoot. The money that we raise from this campaign will go towards some major expenses we can't hustle our way out of, such as:

1. TRANSPORTATION - Flying some key cast and crew to Reno and shuttling everyone around our remote Northern Nevada & California locations.

2. FOOD -  Help us buy my mom the raw materials! Potatoes are cool, but ice cream in the desert in July is cooler.

3. LODGING - Traveling outside of Reno will require an overnight stay.

4. BUILDING OUR DEMOLITION DERBY CAR -We will need a duplicate car to make our challenging production schedule possible.

5. A CAKE - I promised Mayuran that I would give him a cake if he produced this script.
