Help Portland's LRSD rock the faces off our Founding Fathers and at Drumageddon this summer!

Help our unique Portland drum corps reconnect with its syncopated Long Beach, CA roots!

The Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers is one of the few remaining syncopated drum corps. We are asking for support to help us reconnect with our founding fathers at the LBJCB 10 year Drummer Reunion "Drumageddon" in Long Beach, California.

One can hear our drums all through Portland, from the Rose City Roller's Roller Derby to the Starlight Parade to the local birthday party in the park. Our fans love our sharp look, our precision, our flying mallets, and flashing drums. They love the way we energize the crowd, melt their ears, and frighten their dogs. In the summer, we sweat down the streets of Portland at least once a week supporting such organizations as MS Society,  the Alzheimer Association, PDX CycloCross – just to name a few.

On August 25th 2012, we have been invited to bring our band to the place where our syncopated style began: Long Beach, California. We want to show our brothers at Drumageddon what Portland's ambassadors of Syncopated Drumming can do!

28 years ago, Greg Odell started playing syncopated drums in Southern California at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach. Fourteen years later, Greg turned his love of drumming into a ragtag band of musicians dressed in black. In 1998, the Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers was formed in Portland, OR. Like traditional Long Beach bands, LRSD is comprised of all volunteer members and incorporates both “street beat” rhythms and military style rudiments. Unlike our founding fathers, LRSD performs over 50 times each year locally and in surrounding areas, featuring both male & female drummers!

This particular trip will be the farthest distance our group has traveled in 14 years, and it will take a lot of money to move our group of 25 and our equipment a thousand miles for this very special anniversary. We are excited to introduce our Pacific Northwest brand of the syncopated drumming culture to the more traditional bands at Drumageddon. And with your help we can do it!

Please support this lost art of syncopated drumming so the Last Regiment can continue to teach and to perform this musical style for generations to come.
