Thank you Kickstarter Backers for funding our project, Kokopelli Rising! Our team came together from New Mexico, New York, Utah, Toronto, California and a few other places to create the most beautiful project. We prebuilt most of it in Albuquerque, New Mexico, dismantled it and packed it up to ship out to Black Rock City, Nevada. Environmental Conditions were fierce as we built and plumbed Kokopelli Rising in the desert, while battling heavy smoke from forest fires, high winds and extremely alkaline dust. And we did it!
Nightly, Kokopelli shot fire balls out of his head ( a popular event for visitors, as they were all to release the fireballs) and flute. On Wednesday, before dawn, we had a beautiful blessing ceremony and Marion Heller played "Kokopelli" on her flute, to bring up the sun. (Listen to a live recording of Marian playing Kokopelli here:http://www.nycclassical.com/files/Marian_Heller-_Kokopelli-_K._Hoover.mp3 )
On Thursday night, we joined all of the other Circle of Regional Effigy Projects and lit Kokopelli Rising on fire at 9:00 p.m. It was beautiful! By 1:00 p.m. the following day, we had completely cleaned up the ashes and Left No Trace.
Thank you! Love, the Kokopelli Rising Crew.
