Print and Play Learning Game / Demo Copy
Schlock Mercenary: Capital Offensive Learning Game Print and Play:
As promised, I am providing a Print and Play version of the Schlock Mercenary: Capital Offensive board game for people to play as much as they would like. If you print out the first two pages of the PnP files and mount them to something heavy, they serve as the board. Page 3 has all the tokens. We use wood discs, but if you have any sort of token, you can put the artwork on them. The rest of the pages are character sheets.
The rulebook is a late-development draft version of the Learning Game rules only, with near final art. There are some examples, pieces of example art and cleanup missing from the file, but it is enough to get started playing the Learning Game.
If you have any trouble with the files, or if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask here, on KickStarter or through email (livingworldsgames@gmail.com) and we'll get back to you as soon as humanly possible.

And of course as soon as I post I see it. You start at the person firing and count wither horizontal or vertical squares, whichever is greater, then consider the other direction. So in the example it doesn't matter if you start with horizontal or vertical. Ignore my last question :)

Question about attack ranges: The manual says you take the long part of the L, and add half the short part. But in the attack-III example isn't the long part the one that ends at the attorney? If you counted the vertical line first it would be 4, then 2 squares from there to Schlock would give you a total range of 5, one more than the example indicated. Am I misunderstanding something?

lol, that'll work. We actually had the same "consumption" argument. It went something like, "You can't gain 3 tons by eating 1 ton of Ovalquik! It's the law of conservation of mass!" "That's a law, not an order....and I doubt he'd follow either, given the chance." Thanks for the clarification and I like your answer better :cD

@parkrrr: No problem, you haven't been nagging, I've been working at getting it as close as possible to the final product and wanted to make sure it was right. As we get closer to the release date / past the release date, I'll be releasing some extra print and play tiles for fun. Also, pictures of the overfunding dice, dice cup, dice bag, patch, etc. are coming shortly.
@Daniel Harris: 3 Health. A Hit is any die that makes it past defense, no matter the remaining health / armor of target. In your example, 1 Hit is enough to eliminate the Drone. The extra Hits / Health gain is, in my mind, due to consuming the body. Think of the strips where Schlock gets bigger and bigger as he consumes his enemies and friends.

Question: Schlock's Launch ability - we were talking about this at work: My assumption is that Schlock gains 1 health for each 'hit' that removes either a shield or health token. There was a question about whether a 'hit' to a shield was considered damage (assumed yes) and whether 'overkill' (i know, i know) still generaged health tokens. example: Schlock activates his Launch ability at a Drone with 1 health and no shields. He rolls three(3) 6's and they all 'hit' (drone fails to negate any damage). Does Schlock gain 3 health (one for each 'hit') or 1 (since the drone only had one health to take). The percieved answer was 1, but what's a good tabletop game without a little friendly fire ;c)

Thank you for doing this; it really makes me happy. I know I've been a bit of a nag about it, for which I apologize.

@scantrontb: That was one of the changes from this version of the draft to the final (which will be posted in a few days once I get it from the graphic designer. I only have a full press proof which is insanely large and not suitable for posting). Schlock was moved up 1 square in order to illustrate that the wall blocks LoS. The text was updated in the final version to read:
Drone 2 has Line of Sight on Schlock and Tagon but not on Elf (The straight line from Drone 2’s center dot to Elf’s center dot traces LoS through the corner of the Wall).
Good eye and thanks for reading the rules!
Creator scantrontb on May 13, 2012
in the learning rules, pg 7, "attack step C" the text for drone 2 does not match the picture just below the text. Sgt. Schlock is not in the LoS from drone 2 to Elf. he is actually one square north of where the text has him, because a line from drone 2's center dot to Elf's center dot does NOT pass thru ANY portion of Schlock or even his square at all...

Thanks! Can't wait to see the rest!
