I am in Quality Assurance at a Texas Oil Rig fabrication company. I am also a writer and design / publish board games (Hopefully for a living in the future).
In 2007, I started Living Worlds Games with an eye to create games, board and other, that evolve over time based on the actions of a large group of players. We are also striving to produce games that are visually appealing and feature good graphic design.
We released our first game, 1955: The War of Espionage in 2011 and our second game, Schlock Mercenary: Capital Offensive in 2012.
On a personal note, I've been gaming for over two decades now. I play everything from board games (LNOE, Dominion), RPGs (Shadowrun, Rifts), MMOs(Eve Online) to video games (Fallout 3). I decided to move into designing and publishing board games a couple of years ago due to a conversation I had on a MUSH (A text based MMO, no pictures).
Another player and I were discussing the inability of a popular RPG designer to properly balance to massive amount of product he was pushing out onto the market when my friend told me that if I felt like I could do better balancing rules and producing product, I should stop merely playing games and go out there and make one happen.
Any updates on when the game will ship to backers?
Please don't tell me you produce the game in germany, ship it to the US, and then ship it back to the german kickstarter supporters? :-)

Rulebook, posting tomorrow for editing / review. Artwork is being worked on for that.
Initial payment was made to Ludo Fact, shipping is set up, everything is ready to go just as soon as the rulebook is ready and the last edits are made.
Been quiet the last month. How goes the art work?
Ok, thank you. I submitted my names. One of the names is: Thomas & Elizabeth Brown
I hope that wouldn't be a problem to be considered for 1 name. If so, let me know. Thanks again!
My apologies. So you did. What you get is as follows:
Your name on the Box Lid as a special thanks(It will be included as part of the artwork).
Up to 6 names on the Box bottom
Up to 6 names in the Rule book
6 Copies of the game
6 sets of the Promo-Cards
6 Sets of the Spy Meeples
6 Sets of the Mini-expansion
Nicholas, Thanks for the quick response. I pledged at the $250 which includes All of the $150 items plus your name on the Box Lid as a Supporter. I suppose I was confused on 6 names plus another for the Box lid? I just assumed "the Backers name" would be included and you received the 6 copies of the game, and not choosing 6 different names.
You pledged at the $150 mark. The rewards for that level include 6 copies of the game.
Every copy of the game will be the same. Every box will include all the names.
When you pick the six names, they will appear both in the Rule Book and on the box itself. All six names will appear on all 2k to 3k copies of the game.
Please let me know if there are further questions or more clarification.
Any time!
Question regarding my email for the names. I just wanted to know the diffferences between:
What name would you like to appear on the Box Lid?
What names, up to 6, would you like to appear on the Box bottom and in the rulebook?
I am receiving 6 board games? Will one name appear on all Box Lids? and then another set of names for the box bottom and rulebook? I was a little confused. Thanks!
We will be announcing future pre orders shortly.
I am looking at adding a little extra for all of our friends here.
Another update will be coming soon.
I was considering backing this a month or so ago (I'd never backed anyone on Kickstarter before), but the positive review on The Gaming Gang podcast really won me over. The game just sounds excellent, and I'm glad the campaign worked, Nicholas!
Bedtime now. I updated for a second game - another German was interested enough to make this over 9,000 now.
Congratulations, Nich!
@Ramon: Hey, why not join our german collective order? The small packet from Germany will be 8,60 Euros, the game itself as part of the collective order 36 Euros (incl. import taxes). But I could make a special bargain (so I can update my own, rather expensive single order into a "3 copies-order, saving some money) and make it plain 40 Euros total for you. Just let me know, I will put your name on the list, and as soon as I have to pay my pledge, you pay 40 Euros via paypal.
In case of a single order (65 $) you would pay another 19% import tax, making it about 58 Euros.
How does this sound to you?
Here the online forum with the collective order (one order left to make it another 3 copies):

Unfortunately, the company doesn't act as a distributor and I can't have them send individual packages.
If you know of a few other people in the Netherlands, you can get one of the multiple packs of games and have it all shipped to one point.
I'll keep looking to see if we can find a good European distributor for 1955 so after they are produced, we can get them to people in Europe at a lower shipping price.
made in Germany, could that not function as a hub for Europe?
+$30 makes it not that interesting to back up this great game.
Greetings from the Netherlands and keep up the spirit!
[Tom]: I am glad you love it. We love it as well. We played several games this weekend at a local convention. We'll have some updated art tomorrow evening as well.
Roy Brown: Once the KickStarter campaign is over, we'll be sending out a request for addresses, names for the support, etc. We appreciate the pledge and are dedicated towards making sure people are ecstatic over the product when it arrives. We'll continue posting updates throughout the process to keep people in the loop.
Nich
Nich,
Will you contact us for the official name to go on the Box Lid as a Supporter? Thanks again! The game looks great and I can't wait to receive my shipment!
Just printed the P&P version and already love it!
CONGRATULATIONS! Now go on for more, people!
Hello Tom,
If you select the $150 option, you will get:
- 6 copies of the game
- 6 Sets of custom acrylic spy meeples
- 6 Sets of extra cards
- 6 of the Mini - Expansion
- Your name (Or gaming group's name, etc) on the box itself
Thank you for the comments about the game and the artwork. The graphic designer and the artist both appreciate the praise.
Nich
Will you get 6 pairs of custom spy meeples, if you choose the $150 option?
@Tom: looks good so far - 3 more already "in the boat" - one more had contacted me some days ago, but was put off by the overall price - maybe he will join now, too.
Hi!
The game look great! I love the artwork!
I'm trying to get 5 other gamers to join me with a preorder. Maybe it works out in time...
Almost there! I know you'll make it! I look forward to playing the game.
The Gaming Gang, www.thegaminggang.com, has posted a PodCast with a review of 1955. It is about halfway through for people who are interested in hearing more about the game.
My thanks to the crew of The Gaming Gang for the time and effort they put into playing and reviewing the game.
So far, we've been in Wired.Com, TheGamingGang.com, About.com's Boardgame section and mentioned in numerous other places. I am very happy about the community involvement that we've seen for this project.
Additionally, today we entered the front page of KickStarter. It is a good place to be. To those coming here from the front page, please take the time to review the various updates, look at the artwork and ask any questions you may have.
We are at about $1,900 dollars left to goal and have 9 days. That's about $200 / day, so we'll need to get moving. I have a feeling that we'll hit the goal, but it'll take a good number of pledges to make that happen.
Hope everyone had a good Holiday and I look forward to giving you at least 1 or 2 more updates before the end of the KickStarter campaign.
It is a common and well known problem in Germany, that USPS is charging as much as the game`s prcie again for the shipping. It is a bit ridiculous, but of course not your fault. You should try to contact a German distributor like Heidelberger ...
Unfortunately, I am unable to make shipping cheaper. The 6 game bundle for 30 is excellent for overseas orders, but it is stil more expensive than the massive number of great games native to Germany due to import fees.
For bonuses due to the Spy, if your spy's location matches the country you are influencing and the card you are playing, you get either a +1 or the ability to. combine a second card of that same country.
Be careful in picking your home country and guard it well. Even the USA and USSR tracks, long though they may be, are not impervious to being taken over.
I am exceptionally glad you enjoy the game.
I posted in two German forums - but probably it is not atractive enough to get many backers ... Germany is FULL of games on every corner, and the shipping plus 19% import tax make this game a bit high priced for what it is - materialwise.
I really hope, we reach the goal - my first couple of games were quite impressive. Very different each - one very short card-luck-fest (just pulled the opponent`s home country over the line, but played wrong, it was illegal to add 1 more for having my spy there), one longer tug-of-war, one very "hard" ...
Looking forward to more sessions!
Just a little tease for the evening that I don't believe I've mentioned before:
The KickStarter* promo card will be called "College Activists".
Thank you for your time, Brian. I enjoyed watching the review and the thoughts you had on the game.
One question, when you mention picking player colors, did you pick your color before or after you saw your first 5 cards? The rules should read that you draw your initial 5 cards and then pick your Faction and your Home Country. This allows you to have the maximum amount of information possible.
Thank you again and I recommend everyone check out their YouTube review or through www.boardgamegeek.com. If you do, be sure to Thumb the video.
We just got finished editing and posting our video review of the game. We liked it a lot. Come on over to Youtube for a moment and take a look.
We hope that our video will convince you to support this great game. Thanks Nicholas for sending us a pre-production copy so we could try it out. We hope our review helps you get more backers

Hello Chad,
I have faith that we will exceed our goal by January 5th. Thank you for backing our project. In the next two weeks we will have a number of reviews available on different sites. The reviewers have a sneak peek at the basic idea of the box cover artwork included with their copy of the game. Our artist and graphic designer are putting further artwork together for your viewing pleasure.
Also, we will be featuring, after this weekend, a view of how a card goes from concept, through sketch, drawing, vectoring and finally finished art.
We also will be at a convention over New Years showing off the game.
Check back in from time to time to see the additions.
I signed on yesterday. This looks to be a promising game. Hopefully you reach your goal.
Yes, that is correct.
Pledge 180 and select 150 reward.
I am keen on this game and am looking to get 5 other buyers to share the cost for international shipping to Singapore. Can I just confirm the total cost would be $150 (for 6 copies) + $30 (shipping) = $180 USD?
Thanks. I should be getting this to the table on the 10th and 11th. I'll post session reports on BGG.
Craig,
We have provided a print and play version of the game to backers for download. Please let me know how it goes once you play. Please be aware that it normally takes at least 2 games to start developing the combos and hand management to out maneuver your opponent.
Craig, we plan on offering it up once BGG Con is over. I don't have access to the layout files currently so it will have to wait until Sunday / Monday.
It would take a deck of 54 cards, meeples, 4 cubes of one color, 1 cubes of each of 2 other colors, a board (7.5 x 15).
Thanks,
Hello. Have you considered giving backers access to a print and play version (no artwork)? The other project I'm backing (Eminent Domain) has done so. I printed my copy out and play it at my local board game meetup to show the game off to people. It's a great way to get more backers.
We have had a good number of people at bgg con show up and asked about the game while playing. We've also been speaking with a large number of people, handing out cards with thenkickstarter info(the image of the handouts will be updated here as soon as I can get to a real computer).
Also, we played a game on one of the geek chic tables. Pictures to follow. Beautiful tables and the game looks great.
Nich and fellow backers...we need to get the word out about this game. I have no doubt the goal can be reached if more people knew the game was here. The artwork looks great, going to be manufactured by a great company, rules are posted, great theme, etc. The new pricing is perfect as well, really gives people an incentive to pledge (especially overseas backers due to the multiple game tiers, which save a ton on shipping).
