Must admit, as you know, sailing off to find an iceberg, made (makes) me nervous...but admitting that the combination of all this project means is so exciting....the support is inspirational and encouraging for sure.....I am so excited to see how you incorporate the educational aspect and very interested in not just SEEDS but all that you have to offer. Good going on the communications to your backers and their obvious interest. I am sure your presentation for the TED Conference will spark lots of interest in all that you have to offer. Love you.

I know that is a difficult choice...two fine boats. So...just take the NorSea on the next project (West Coast..haha). Actually, the comparison of the two on serious voyages would make a very good comparison article for one of the sailing magazines...Cruising World would love it!

teresa carey on May 3, 2011

      JB,
We plan to take Benji's BCC. Although sometimes I still think the Nor'Sea would be a better choice. There are pros and cons to each boat. I'm not sure how we made that choice. It just sort of evolved over the last few months. But I like to say that I lost the coin toss!

      Teresa...
Congrats...almost there and so exciting! I am confident you will not only make but exceed your goal. As I commented below...I love the choice in vessels that you and Benji have chosen and as I understand you will be sailing together during the project, I am very curious which of the two you will choose, and how are you making that choice? Or are you going bigger, haha?
      Blessings...

      JB,
Thanks for the support! We would love to sail the west coast! Benji has never sailed there, but I have and I think its great. Hmmm...thoughts already for a second project? Well, we need to finish this one first!

No, the boat I sailed was not Ben's old boat. I did meet Ben, however, when he was selling his Nor'Sea and I inquired about it, but I ended up buying one from Lake Erie.

      Sincerely,
      Teresa

      Teresa...
Thank you for answering my questions/concerns. I have the utmost confidence in you +
Ben and support Mary's attitude...use the money for whatever is needed! Your judgement is enough for us!

Ok....so enough of that. Now I want to look forward to the Macro plan and make a suggestion that you and Ben begining the planning strategy for a Left Coast project! Perhaps something off the coast of California ....or how about the Sea of Cortez?

I know your goal will be reached and I look forward to being involved as a bystander supporter. I would to be involved on a different level for that Left Coast project! Haha.

Lastly....I am curious. Is the Norsea 27 that Ben delivers in one of his previous youtube videos the same as the one you now sail?? I am simply wondering because Ben formerly had the NorSea 27 before the acquisition of the Bristol Channel Cutter. I must say...you two have magnificent taste in your vessels of choice!

      Highest Blessings to you both!

      Best,
      JB

      JBsails,
Thank you for your thoughts. I’ve had similar comments from a few other people and I usually respond by telling them about an extremely generous donation I received for our film from a woman named Mary. In a message with the donation she wrote, “While, I have never believed in Global Warming, I do believed in you! Please use wherever needed ” I was so inspired by her words that I needed to speak with her. She and I discussed climate change and found that we agreed on a lot of things. I suspect that you and I might as well. In fact, Ben and I both agree with what you are saying about how it is important to provide information from all sides of the story. I am an educator, not a politician. So I will strive for an informative film, not a persuasive one. Primarily, we are hoping to show that the environment impacts us in profound and positive ways. Then we will use our personal story to share how we experience more freedom by engaging in the simple living movement and making an emotional connection to the natural world. That may be the biggest persuasive aspect of the film.
Please stay in touch. I appreciate your thoughtful comment.
      Sincerely,
      Teresa

      Hi Teresa...

I am very pleased to support your upcoming film project. I am a sailor here in Southern California and am very familiar with your NorSea 27! What a fine boat Daphne appears to be.

I am new to your endeavor and am familiar only with the short film describing your project on the Kickstarter website. I would only request that you and Ben keep an open mind as you conduct your research. I am a lover of the ocean, an environmentalist, a wilderness fly-fisherman, and outdoorsman....however, I am not yet convinced that there is satisfactory science to support the claim that there is global warming, or that this is the begining of the end of the planet. I am 57 years old and remember in the seventies when in my early 20's. The fear at that time was that the ice age was returning to the planet and the continents were soon to be overcome with icebergs! Please review the science that is available on both sides of the argument and attempt to incorporate an objective observation into your final product. That is what good science is about, and I trust you will arrive at a more balanced final product if you do so.

Sail on, young lady! You are truly inspiring and I celebrate you and Ben in this adventure. Godspeed and highest blessings to you both. You are fantastic!

      Best,
      JB

Also Susan, of course we will be keeping track of all donations, and expenses to try and keep within our budget. If any donor wants to see those figures I dont see why they couldnt see them as it is just as much our film as it is theirs.

    34. Dsc_0198.thumb
teresa carey on April 12, 2011

Thank you for asking, Susan. We are doing our best to make the film on a very low budget. Every person involved is volunteering. Our goal is to educate and inspire. However, if we come out ahead financially in the end, then I would be very excited to take that extra money and invest it in furthering the message and goal of the film. That would be an excellent outcome of this project!
