I'm on it, Raj. I'll update tonight... It's a bit of a catch 22, since I've had so many backers tell me they don't want any more updates until the case is ready.
Creator Raj R 7 days ago
Month and a half gone by. Update please?
Creator David Barnett on April 1
Brads: I just returned from traveling. I'll post an update before the end of the day. Thanks, David
Creator Brad Dancer on April 1
any updates?
Creator Brad Covey on March 29
Anymore news to share on the progress of the cases?
Creator David Barnett on March 11
Hi Sam, Hopefully you've been getting my updates; some backers have not, unfortunately. In any case, the answer is yes. My factory was off for over two weeks for Chinese New Year holiday, but they're back at work now, trying to iron out the last few wrinkles in PopSockets. The adjustments to the steel tools will be done on Friday, and new tests will be run on Saturday. Thanks for checking in!
Creator Sam Mendez on March 11
Hi David, what happens with the project? Its possible manufacture the Pop Sockets?
Creator David Barnett on January 31
Hi Brett, I share your frustrations. As for materials, unfortunately it's not possible to prototype in the same materials as the production quality parts, so it's not possible to know for sure which materials will work, especially for the crucial accordion part, which has turned out to be quite tricky to get just right. I'm in contact with the factory every night to try to get the problems resolved. Unfortunately, it's a painfully slow process, with several weeks separating each new round of parts, which come with new problems. As for a date, I wish I could promise February, but given the Chinese New Year Holiday coming up, which closes all factories for over a week, the cases are not likely to be ready until March. I'm happy to refund your pledge at any point. David
Creator Brett Alan on January 31
Well, i have practically forgot about this. Its almost been a year since this campaign started. I mean lets face it, this isnt some tech breakthrough project either- its just an iphone case. I understand determining the materials to be used has become difficult. I feel like these types of details should have been figured out prior, no?.....When can we be expecting these cases?..... Hard to believe there is no date at this point.
Creator David Barnett on December 15
It has been a bit frustrating, Julie. Glad you're still excited. I've not yet sent out the survey to my backers. I did get the first parts from the factory a couple days ago, and I'll post an update soon. I'll offer an iPhone 5 case and PopSockets For All for the iPhone 4 and all other devices.
Creator Julie Garcia on December 14
I'm still excited for my PopSockets and I can't even imagine how frustrating this past year has been for you . . . just want to make sure I didn't miss the part where your hundreds of backers each get tell you whether or not we've upgraded to the iPhone5 (I have) and which style of case we want if we get a choice (I'd love to have one of each because my daughter inherited my iPhone4) and you get to keep track of all of that, too ;-). Thanks.
Creator David Barnett on December 10
Thank you, Matthew, for being the Huzzah beneath my wings. I should receive the first PopSockets from the production molds tomorrow! I'll send out an update soon.
Creator Matthew Arnold on December 10
I second Albert's comment. This is something I am looking forward too as much now as before. So glad it didn't end up dead in the water. Appreciate the hard work David.
Huzzah! for you.
Creator David Barnett on December 1
Terrific, Albert! Thanks for the support. Looks like the parts are all coming out of the molds now, so I should have the first PopSockets cases in hand late next week or early the following week. I'll keep you posted. David
Creator Albert Lim on November 30
Thanks for the update David. No, I'm more than willing to wait for my popsocket! Thanks for suffering thru the ups and downs of getting your dream realized. I'm behind you 100%!
Creator David Barnett on November 7, 2012
Hi Albert, We finally have the green light to move forward with all 7 molds for the PopSockets parts. People in the industry say this stage takes 3 to 4 weeks, followed by a couple weeks of revisions to the molds. But so far nothing has taken the standard time, so I'm trying to be realistic with an early January launch of the product. It's no problem at all if you want a refund. You can always pick up a PopSockets case down the line. Just shoot me your PayPal email if that sounds good!
Creator Albert Lim on November 7, 2012
Hi David,
Any update on the iPhone 5 case? I've been holding out from buying a case for my new phone, but I'm getting serious anxiety and I think I'm starting to notice nicks and scratches that aren't there. Please help!
Creator David Barnett on October 9, 2012
Got it, Brad. Thanks.
Creator Brad Dancer on October 9, 2012
iphone 5 that is
Creator Brad Dancer on October 9, 2012
same here, need iphone instead, sorry if this isn't where you needed to know
Creator David Barnett on September 12, 2012
Hey there Atalio, I haven't seen the video yet, but the available specs are consistent with what I was expecting, so that's good news. We'll move forward as fast as possible on this.
Creator Atalio on September 12, 2012
Just watched the iPhone 5 product videos. Wow! Apple’s done it again. Glad we pushed for the iPhone 5 case. Let’s not worry about supporting relics (beyond that provided by the sticky gel PopSockets).
The iPhone 5 + PopSockets case will be a killer combo!
Creator David Barnett on September 11, 2012
Yo Nic and Jo! Thanks for the words from Down Under. The only way you'll ever see that $2 again is if you visit Boulder before I spend it.
Creator Joanne Deligeorges on September 11, 2012
Sorry David, using Jo's account.
Nic
Creator Joanne Deligeorges on September 11, 2012
Hey David,
I want my $2! (http://www.youtube.com/watch…)
Just kidding. Good luck with everything -- you deserve it -- and keep us posted on the case-mate discussions.
I know you'll deliver an amazing product.
Nic
Creator David Barnett on September 11, 2012
Hey C Cowles, Thanks for the support! I'm more than hanging in here, I've got the bull by the horns and will deliver an awesome product to you before too long. As for Case-Mate, I spoke with them today, and they too are quite disappointed that the molds they built for PopSockets are not up to my satisfaction. Hopefully we'll work something out that seems fair to everyone involved. I'll keep you posted. In the very meantime, stay cool!
Creator C Cowles D Biek on September 11, 2012
Hey PopSockets
I am behind you 100%. YOU have done your work and then some. Unfortunately, Case-Mate has dropped the ball repeatedly and left you out to dry. I certainly won't be purchasing any more cases from them - and I have many times in the past. Case-Mate needs to step up and take some serious action to get this project back to where it was moving before they set it back 6 months. Your product is amazing and the way Case-Mate has handled PopSockets is shameful. Hang in there! I will.
Creator David Barnett on September 6, 2012
Got it, Jimmy. You'll get a couple iPhone 5 cases for every iPhone 4 case that I promised you.
Creator Jimmy Leung on September 6, 2012
Hi David, not sure if I missed the survey. Please change mind to iPhone 5 instead of for iPhone 4.
Thanks
Creator David Barnett on September 4, 2012
Thanks for the advice, Aseem. I'll take it!
Creator Aseem Kishore on September 4, 2012
I think this should be a lesson for any other Kickstarter project you do. First, use the money and do it yourself and then if you have offers for a buyout, go with those after you deliver the product to the people who backed you. I've backed a lot of Kickstarter projects and every one of them has delivered except this one. Not happy.
Creator David Barnett on August 16, 2012
Thanks, David. Support like yours lifts the pressure and makes this venture more enjoyable. As for the new dog, Haruki, we just went out for our nightly mountain walk, where we encounter deer and foxes regularly, and we've seen one bear and one mountain lion too. Lots of green eyes and yellow eyes looking back at us as I shine my headlight on the hills around us. Haruki loves it here in the mountains. Send photos if you get a new dog!
Creator David Duncan on August 16, 2012
David Thanks for the update we know you have been trying your hardest to get the popsockets out. We know you are trying to turn out the best product you can. Most of us Kickstarter fans know everything doesn't always go as planed you just hope for the best. the wait will just make the popsockets that much better when we get them. Again Thanks.. P.S. I hope the new Dog is doing well.
Creator David Barnett on August 16, 2012
One for the 4 and one for the 5 it shall be, Anne. Please remind me when I send out a survey. In the meantime, I like your attitude! I'll get back on that horse and ride like the wind.
Creator Anne Hightower on August 15, 2012
I'll hang in there w you. You've had a lot of obstacles to overcome & they take time to overcome. I'm pleased you want to do this project right & am confident your persistence will pay off. Nothing happens quite the way we expect, do they? If you do send out two for one, I'd like one for the four & one for the five. Chin up; it'll happen!
Creator David Barnett on August 15, 2012
No problem, Brett. I'll send out a survey or just send out coupon codes to be used for any case at any time in the future, as soon as PopSockets are ready.
Creator Brett Alan on August 15, 2012
Please give me an iphone5 pop sockets case as oppose to iphone 4 when the time comes. Thank you.
Creator David Barnett on July 17, 2012
Thanks Raj! The day will come.
Creator Raj R on July 16, 2012
still pushing for you, david. would love to see one of these things on my iphone.
Creator David Barnett on July 9, 2012
I like it when you stop by, Brian. Thanks for getting my back.
Creator briankb on July 9, 2012
Just wanted to stop by and say that David is a good guy who stands by his word. I hope to see a retail version of this someday soon. Good luck.
Creator David Barnett on June 27, 2012
I don't know why people say not to lose hope, Matthew. I think it's better to lose hope. That way you're positioned to enjoy a pleasant surprise. And what better to enjoy than a pleasant surprise?
Creator Matthew Arnold on June 27, 2012
I had honestly lost hope. I am glad to hear that this product is still moving forward. This was my first kickstarter project to put money into. Hope to hear more good news soon.
Creator David Barnett on June 26, 2012
Thanks very much, Ogden. That little case will change your life, some day soon, I hope.
Creator ogden kruger on June 25, 2012
thanks for the update! i will continue to patiently wait for my special little case!!
Creator David Barnett on June 16, 2012
Thanks very much, Kayte! I appreciate the support. I'm eager to get this back under my control, as the delays from Case-Mate have been incredibly frustrating, and I'm still not in a position to move things forward until I get the first case parts from the molds Case-Mate manufactured in China. As soon as I can, I'll turn this idea into an actual product. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again! David
Creator Kayte Fulton on June 16, 2012
Hey Dave,
Just got to this email, and I am so sorry to hear of the situation with Case-Mate. Not the reward your innovation, creativity and tenacity deserves. Though my financial backing was minimal, my personal support was, and is strong. I believe I speak for many of your supporters when I say, keep us in the loop, your product is cool and versatile, and who knows what opportunities await! I look forward to seeing PopSockets on the market and on our phones.
Best of luck -
Kayte Fulton

Thanks Terri and Miles. I will pass the note along, as you're definitely not alone. This is a big glitch, but to be honest I'm excited to finally regain control of this project. I promise to make something good of it!
Creator Miles Loretta on June 12, 2012
Please pass a note to case-mate that one of your backers will not purchase any products from them. I'll obviously wait for final word as to why, but if it was a bad situation, I don't support companies like that. Thanks!
