synopsis:

Rubber Duckie is the story of Jesse and Daniel, who on a blazing summer afternoon, are consumed with boredom and push their own limits and boundaries. This leaves us begging the question; is it simply boredom or an insatiable, innate appetite for more? Our two characters begin a journey that explores the subconscious part of the self that harbors their shameful, self-destructive, and dark selves. They will make decisions that will inevitaby lay out their paths.

artist statement:

This story has been sitting with me for over 6 years now. Hundreds of other ideas, stories, and characters have engulfed my thoughts over the past few years, but for some reason Jesse and Daniel have never left me.  In an attempt to finally face them, I sat down to create this story which has become deeply important to me. At times, I have struggled to find  the words, but the need to express some sort of feeling has become consuming, eliciting a need to manifest these thoughts into words. 

We meet Jesse and Daniel at a pivotal period in their journey and we intrude on what may be a daily occurrence or a blurred reality of new and exciting exploration. The comfort and safety in another human being is to be felt and expressed without judgement. The secrets we keep behind close doors are the limits we push. I've witnessed how at times we, as humans, lose the ability to use our words, and revert to primal instinct to convey our emotions. The film explores humanity on different levels and raises questions on the many forms of love and the dynamics of friendship. I want to artistically explore violence in its extremes and it's correlation with the need to feel alive. Rubber Duckie also explores sadomasochism that verges on desire, love, and obsession. I'm lucky to embark on this journey with two fearless, amazing talents like Jamie Nocher and Adam Vaughn, and with the visual talent of Joe Obering.

Besides being eternally grateful for your help, you'd be contributing to a unique and visionary story rarely explored on film. Your contribution would benefit the final product of a piece of art and a story that needs to be told. Your help is needed to make this exceptionally dynamic film. We shot samples of what would be a similar version of the final product, but with proper sound and a stronger visual, the limits to what this could become are endless. When I wrote She Kills He, I thought I had a great piece, but Rubber Duckie has the potential to surpass anything I have created before.
