About this project
In the Open provides musicians with videos in unique environments that can then be used for promotional material or just something to do. We want to be able to continue to create live music videos with musicians and bands from around the world. The videos themselves not only capture the band performing, but allows for a more intimate moment between the bands and the viewers. Viewers get a chance to see the musicians perform a sometimes stripped down version of their favorite songs, as well as the opportunity to see how the band works out of their normal environment.
So far everyone has been enjoying the work that is being done, but sometimes we cannot meet our demand due to a lack of appropriate funding. We want to be able to make as many videos as possible at the highest quality possible. The money that we receive will be used for getting permits to shoot in amazing locations, equipment to allow us to get better quality work and become more efficient (especially with sound and video editing). We love what we are doing, and we hope that we will be able to continue.
In terms of getting content we have connections within the music industry between labels, managers, and publicists so it definitely makes it easier to get content to the site. The issue that comes into play is getting the best audio for the job. As for promoting the site,
Eventually we would be interested in making a more custom player on the site, that will also allow for embeds, so we can make the site more independent.
As times go on we will hopefully be putting on more concerts, and start booking and promoting shows that are fully supported by In the Open. The shows would be in unique venues that aren't your typical music venue, but that still have amazing acoustics. They would be much more intimate than your normal show.
