A quest to expand and develop our goat dairy to provide healthy alternatives to commercial dairy goods.

ALL NATURAL:

Corn Syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Mono & Diglycerides, Guar Gum, Sodium Phosphate, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Citrate, Carrageenan, Polysorbate 80, Artificial Flavors are just a few of the ingredients in grocery store dairy products. Many of these words most people can't even spell. Many more people don't even know what they are... NONE of these ingredients are found in any of our products.

When we moved to our little hobby farm 2 years ago all natural was our goal. We started growing and creating our own food using all natural produce, meats, and milk.

Early on we developed a fondness for goats. Our love of these animals became solidified when we realized everything we could make with their milk. We started experimenting with Cheeses, Yogurts, and Ice Creams. We learned that not only were they better for you than the products you buy at the store, but they also tasted better.

Our first batch of REAL Strawberry Ice Cream was a real eye opener. The difference in taste, texture, and appearance was just unparalleled to anything we have previously had.

As time went on and our recipes evolved to encompass quality natural products we came to realize that we wanted to share these delicious creations with other people.

THE GOAT MILK ADVANTAGE:

Another realization, as we did our research, was that goat milk had superior attributes cows milk. We have family and friends who are lactose intolerant or have other sensitivities to cows milk that are unhealthy. After significant research we discovered that goats milk was better suited for human consumption than cows milk. The reason is that goat milk is naturally homogenized which means the fat molecules are smaller than in cow milk and so remain evenly dispersed throughout the milk. The smaller size of the fat globules seems to make goat milk more digestible for some people.

While the protein structure of cow and goat milk is fairly similar, goat milk is missing an alpha casein present in cow’s milk.  In addition, when you drink a glass of goat milk and it reacts with the acid in your stomach, the protein curds that precipitate are smaller in size and a bit softer than the ones that form with cow’s milk.

Our mission is to expand our personal all natural goat dairy operation in an effort to provide natural dairy products to our community and surrounding areas. We want to educate consumers on the health benefits of goats milk vs cow milk. In our research we realize that goats milk dairy products are scarce and that there is a large demand for a wider range of products produced by goats milk. Though we plan to offer a variety of cheeses, our focus will be on various NATURAL flavored ice creams and yogurts. Our effort will focus on filling the void of quality natural goat dairy products.

HOW FAR ALONG MY PROJECT IS:

We currently have a deal with a local farmer in which we bale hay for all the hay we will need to cover the majority of the feed expense.

We have made a deal with a local grain mill to sell us grain that is free of growth hormones, antibiotics, and steroids. The grain will be mixed to our specifications.

We have 5 does and a herd buck and a milking machine. We just recently purchased a cream separator, ice cream maker and a pasteurizer.

Our products are almost ready to launch but are still in the research and development stage. The funds I am trying to raise will help bring us out of the research phase and put us into production and distribution. We have products that we believe in and believe that there truly is a demand for healthier alternatives. Once you taste our ice creams I am sure you will agree :)

MY TEAM:

My soon to be wife, Heather, will help manage day to day operations in her free time. She has a Bachelors Degree in Communications with a focus on Media Arts. She will also be helping me market the products.

My oldest son, Devin, will be helping run the milk barn to make sure everything is clean and efficient. He will organize and maintain the daily milking schedule.

Our twins will be helping me on the production end in the kitchen that we built in the garage. They will help me process the raw milk into a safe and natural product.

We will all work together to maintain the health and integrity of our herd and provide healthy products to our community and neighbors.

A NEED TO KNOW:

In case you're not familiar with Kickstarter, its an all-or-nothing structure. Meaning, your credit card isn't charged until the end of the fund raising timeline, and only if the goal is met. If its not met, then you're not charged a dime, since the project won't move forward. So if you really want to see this thing happen, contribute what you can, and spread the word, to make sure we hit our goal.

Thanks so much, and I hope you can support the project at any level.
