POSEY is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Her granddaughter must make the heartbreaking decision to take her to a retirement home.

POSEY is the story of Linda Flemming (Erica Rhodes) who makes the heartbreaking decision to take her grandmother, Posey (Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe Winner Sally Kirkland), who is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease to a retirement home. In a desperate move to avoid the inevitable, Posey escapes, and while her loved ones desperately search for her, Posey finds herself the star of a Bollywood movie.
The film seeks to examine the seeming hopelessness of the disease and the fear from both the victim and their families, while at the same time finding hope and humor. The film is supported by the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) and a portion of the profits from the film will be donated to help fund research for this devastating illness.

WHY I AM MAKING THIS MOVIE
This film is the brainchild of my producing partner, Erica Rhodes. She told me the story of her grandmother - sinking deeper and deeper into the darkness that old age often brings - and the seed of a great idea was planted. When I told friends that I was planning to make a movie about Alzheimer's Disease, I began to hear story after story from people whose parents, grandparents, relatives and neighbors had fallen victim to the disease. The stories they recounted were terribly sad and painful to listen to, and I could only imagine the pain of enduring and coping with Alzheimer's and the devastating toll it took on their loved ones.
With every story, I was more convinced that this was a film I had to make. And the seed has grown into a flower - a "Posey" if you will - and that flower is this film.
And we have just received a note from the Alzheimer's Association that they LOVE the script. Now, that's a good feeling!
Here's a note all of those who have made a kind pledge to Kickstarter for POSEY, and to those considering doing so.
I am overwhelmed by your generosity, but more than that, I am touched
by the very special memories you have shared with me, and the unimaginable sadness
that Alzheimer's Disease has brought to your families. The stories of
those loved ones lost, both young and old, to the terrible symptoms of
the disease have brought tears to my
eyes - and great hope to my soul, that maybe through this film, I can
bring some awareness to what you and yours have gone through; how we cope,
how we grieve, how we sadly move forward - yet with resolve, with strength,
and with the memories of our beautiful family to keep us moving toward a
better day, and a better understanding of the disease.
To all
those who would like to have their loved one's name in the end title
credits of the film in an "In Memoriam" section, please email me at family@poseythemovie.com with
the info and I'd be happy to include them. You do not have to pledge a penny to have your loved one's name included.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me.
