Shadow Games is a friendly local games store (FLGS) dedicated to providing gamers with a retail store and gaming centre in which they can purchase and play their games in a safe, clean and dedicated environment. In addition to this gamers will receive a warm, friendly service from the owners, who are themselves knowledgeable gamers of many years.

There is a need in the Midlands area for a place for gamers to relax and have the space to play the games that they have purchased with other friendly like minded gamers. Shadow Games aims to bring these gamers together to play those games that have been sat on their shelves for years, as well as to try out the new games that they have seen and purchased in store.

Why a Retail Store and Games Centre ?

The idea has evolved over the last eighteen months, listening to gamers bemoan the lack of available places to game, that had the correct facilities and that were clean and comfortable. Another common complaint was the lack of FLGS where you could browse or even try a game before parting with your hard earned money. Many gamers purchase their games from the internet because this is the only option available to them and in doing so run the risk of not knowing what the game is like until paid for and delivered.

We also want to break the mould, by ensuring that we offer the games and events that we stock and run at realistic prices, rather than the inflated prices charged by the majority of FLGS. We aim to achieve this by partly subsidising the retail store from the proceeds taken by the Games Centre,

The location that we have chosen and made an offer on is within 10 minutes drive of Junction 1 of the M6 or Junction 19 of the M1. It is a 15 minute walk to a West Coast mainline train station serviced by Virgin trains and the nearest bus stop is over the road. There are numerous car parks within a very short walk with prices from £1 for three hours of parking.

What does the Games Centre consist of ?

The game centre, which is easily accessibly from the retail store, consists of four rooms, a large room of 21ft by 14ft which is ideal for those all day wargames, two rooms of roughly 12ft by 10ft and finally the atmospheric cellar room. This is all supported by separate male and female toilets and a small kitchen.

All of the rooms will be stocked with comfortable tables and chairs, as well as audio visual equipment to enhance the gaming experience.

There will also be the usual gaming equipment available to borrow should you have forgotten something important like battle mats, minis, pens, dice etc

For the wargamer there will be numerous historical armies to hire and custom built terrain boards to enhance the overall feel of the game you put on.

What will the Games Centre offer ?

The games centre will offer its rooms for use by gaming clubs, societies and groups of gamers who just need somewhere to game. The Games Centre will also be running numerous sanctioned events to include, but not limited to, the following :

Shadow Games own D&D 3.5 Living campaign

D&D Encounters - Using 4th Edition and D&D Next

Pathfinder Society

Warhammer and Warhammer 40k tournaments

Flames of War Tournaments

Rapid Fire Game days

Magic the Gathering tournaments

Historical wargames

Board game tournaments and bring and play days.

All of the above will be run by the store team and hosted by our group of volunteers, all gamers of many years experience.

The centre will also be providing freshly brewed hot drinks, cold drinks, pastries and lunches for those all day events. Not to mention the all important comfy chairs dotted around for you to relax in during breaks in the gaming.

Events are scheduled to be priced between £3 and £5 for half days or evenings and between £5 and £10 for full days.

Will you have an On-Line store ?

We will have an on-line store that will have the same items for sale as the retail store, these will be available for all UK customers and international customers, where stockists allow their products to be sold to these communities.

What is included in the Membership packages ?

There are three levels of membership Goblin, Centaur and Dragon that will be available for gamers to sign up to. In addition to this there are three further levels of membership which will only be awarded as part of the Kickstarter rewards program. Details of each level of membership are as follows :

Weekly electronic newsletter packed with members only offers, members only events and details of prebooking for up and coming events.
