The New Plan: please read
Ryan and Anka, Terri and Tim, Jerald and Maggie, Gary, Jay, Susan, Carla, Bryan, Robert, Sky,
Thank you all so much for donating to this project. You all gave me motivation to keep on it and make it great. I have no doubt this will be the case.
Unfortunately, we're not going to make the financial goal I set, and thus, your cards won't be changed and I won't get the funds.
Seeing that this was going to happen, I had two options: follow up with each of you in person about getting the funding directly, skipping the middle man, but missing out on donations from some of you whom I don't know or are far away--like Carla in China; )
Or I can retry it on Kickstarter. This is the plan I'm choosing. I'm going to resubmit the project in short order, and at that time I will notify you. If, then, you are still feeling as generous as you were when you initially gave, I'll ask you to donate again. The amount I'll seek for my goal will be significantly less, so I don't have to try a third time! But please don't see it as a reason for you to invest any less this next time around; )
And for those of you whose emails I don't have, the two lovely and kind strangers--Sky and Susan--if you'd provide me your email in response to this, I'll notify you as well. (Bryan, I don't have yours, either.)
I might not resubmit this project right away, but wait instead for my readership and familiarity to increase. This will happen soon, because see, this Saturday the 11th my stories about my time abroad will be appearing on the websites of 15 newspapers around the Midwest! This, I'm hoping, will help my writing gain a much larger audience, and then, let many more people know about this project.
So look for the re-submission of New Plateaus in China in the upcoming weeks. I'll alert most of you, and hopefully this time we'll have a lot more on board and reason to celebrate when we reach the goal!

For an even fifty you get the ebook, and you'll get the chance to connect with me. I'll shoot you an email, and you can ask me anything you may want to know about my year in China: my experiences, how I did it; perhaps my opinion about their government, their ways of life, or any other matter you're curious about. Heck, maybe it'll be a fruitful way to discuss some things you've done; I love hearing about others' adventures/ideas!Estimated delivery:

For a C-note, you'll get the ebook, the email convo, and a copy of the paperback. I didn't talk about this too much in the video, but it's going to be very similar to the ebook, but with a color insert of photos rather than pictures throughout. But hey, compared to a kindle or other black and white reader, this book will have some great pics to check out and all the comforts-n-warmth of flipping the pages yourself. : )Estimated delivery:

For this granddaddy, you get all the above, plus.....a video/phone conversation. Like the email conversation offered above (also included in this reward), this time it's a more intimate chance to sit down and pick my brain (and I'll pick yours if you don't mind) about the content of the book, my travel, thoughts about the world. You name it. I'll start by shooting you an email and we'll go from there.Estimated delivery:
