Photo-main

Oregon Photo Adventure provides photographic inspiration and education through a half hour television series for public television.

Oregon Photo Adventure was conceived to inspire Oregonians to get out and create their own photographic images and to provide photographic education. The primary vehicle to accomplish the mission is a half-hour series on Oregon Public Broadcasting titled Oregon Photo Adventure

Drawing from the many photo opportunities and adventures found within the state, the show encourages viewers to grab their camera and get out and make their own images while exploring Oregon. How-to, D.I.Y., and local are some keywords that describe the series.

The series will showcase emerging and established talent in the state by having guest photographers on most episodes. After the first season, the show will be co-hosted with photographers – professional and non-professional alike – living in Oregon. Given the current trend of consumer participation, allowing for this series to provide a sense of ownership through inclusion is vital to the long-term success of the series.

The pilot episode aired in 2010 and filming for the first season was completed in August of 2012. Post production for two episodes, transfer to broadcast tape, and closed captioning costs still needed in order to complete the first season. Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

The main challenges for completing this project have been funding, funky weather (tried to do a Winter episode but there was no snow), and scheduling.
Now that filming is complete, only the funding challenge remains at this point.

A potential area of concern is that once the show airs we might get inundated with emails to the point where it's difficult to keep up with them. The pilot episode aired with little to no promotion and I was still surprised at the amount of emails that were received ... all of them were positive and most of them asked for more episodes : )
