About this project
I'm a professional artist. In the past 8 years, I've created 9 solo conceptual shows, each exploring different issues--things like what it means to be an American and what it's like to be a young female starving artist. I'm working on my tenth series now.
I'm keeping the theme of the new series a secret, but I will say this: I used to always do portraits--always--and now I'm doing something very different.
The series will be exhibited as paintings, and it will also
be published in an art book. This Kickstarter is for creating the
paintings and the book, and I'll use the the money to buy panels, brushes, and other materials as well as to begin funding the printing.
For more information about the exhibition catalog featured in most of the pledge rewards, go here. To see a better image of the study I'll send you if you're the first to pledge $700 or more, go here.

I am Gwenn Liberty Seemel. My father wanted to name me Liberty Bell Seemel--after the great Philadelphian e-flat chimer--but made the compromise when my mother pointed out that that particular ding-dong is, in fact, cracked.
I am a full-time artist. I used to describe myself as an artist who has sold her soul to the genre of portraiture, but as this Kickstarter shows that’s beginning to change.
I write and create videos in English and in French for my award-winning blog about my work, portraiture, and all of art-kind. I am the recipient of grants from the Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Oregon Arts Commission, the Celebration Foundation, the Haven Foundation, Change Inc, and Artists’ Fellowship Inc. My work is in the collection of the Hallie Ford Museum of Art and has been written about by Dr. Richard Brilliant.
