Update #5: Photos from the Show!
Thanks to your support, we had a wonderful performance of The Nutcracker Unbound to a sold-out audience last weekend! Photos from the show are now posted on our Facebook page and Picasa. All photos by our Company Photographer, Chiabella James. Up next, editing the video footage to make DVDs!
Best wishes from all of us to all of you for happy holidays!!
Update #4: THANK YOU!!
As we reach the home stretch (2 days until the show!), we are realizing even more how much we needed your support. The amount of costumes, props, set pieces, and technical equipment needed for this show is staggering - but it is all coming together beautifully and we are SO excited to take it all to the stage this weekend! Please stay tuned for more updates after the show, including photos and videos of the performance.

Update #3: Behind the Scenes Photos!
Update #2: A Note from our Clara!
Part of the fun of being Clara is that she is onstage for almost the entire show, and therefore is able to experience the magic up close. I've been able to watch a lot of the rehearsals, and I love seeing everything come together. Between the various dance styles, the remixed music, and the high-concept reinterpretations of the themes, there is never a dull moment in "Nutcracker Unbound."
We've all performed in our fair share of Nutcrackers, but I think I speak for everyone in LA Unbound when I say that this one has proven to be the most unusual and exciting Nutcracker yet! Everyone is working so hard, but there is still a lot that needs to get done, which is where you all come in. Please donate to LA Unbound to make our show even more fantastic! Any dollar amount would be greatly appreciated. And if you're in town, please come and see the show! Your seat probably won't be as good as mine, but I promise that you will be just as amazed as I am.

LA Unbound was founded in August 2007 by Elizabeth Tramontozzi and Betsy Uhler, both former members of IC Unbound, the student dance company of Ithaca College. As dancers and choreographers, they were seeking a similar non-competitive setting in which to continue their dance training and to satisfy their performance aspirations. As quickly as LA Unbound was founded, like-minded dancers from an array of different backgrounds all united to collaborate, create and perform.
LA Unbound fosters a respectful, innovative environment for choreographers to experiment with a variety of dance forms as well as an outlet for dancers of all experience levels to nurture their creative sides in a comfortable, welcoming space. This inviting atmosphere rapidly culminates into an extraordinary public performance for all those with an appreciation for dance.
Now with over 100 dancers as well as 7 successful performances under its belt and more on the way, LA Unbound has consistently proven its intense value to the Los Angeles dance community. The camaraderie between the dancers, the diversity of performances and the whole-hearted commitment to the art of dance all contribute to the mission of providing “an outlet for personal expression and interaction with others who share a love of dance.”
Wish I could have been there but at least these fantastic pictures are the next best thing. Well done to you all.
