Update #33: End of July Update

Posted on July 30, 2011

I have received a number of inquiries on the current status of “Goodbye Promise.”

Before I update you, I just want to say that I am grateful that we have the number of people that we do who are supporting this film and are anxious to see it.  Makes me feel really blessed.  Thank you for playing your part in making all this possible.

On with the update.

On Thursday, I picked up the Dialogue Edit from Noah Kass.  Noah has been our latest savior to the project.  Dialogue editing and ADR can be tedious.  Noah has a true love and passion for it.  Thank you Noah!  You are certainly a welcome member of this team.

From there I turned the files over to our Sound Designer Thomas Corkran yesterday.  We were concerned that the possibility remained that we would have to ADR one remaining scene.  As of right now, it looks like we will be okay and that we do not have to re-record the dialogue.  Thank God.  (though it’s not the final word yet.)

**Scroll down for our latest ADR pictures with Actors Todd Cattell and Brian Durkin.  ADR sessions run by the aforementioned Noah Kass.  And thanks to my dearest Karen Worden for taking the photos.

Our composer CJ Wallis really has done a masterful job with our original score.  Many of these songs stand out on their own.  Just writing these words, I had to open up one of CJ’s tracks and I am now listening as I write.  We have laid most of CJ’s work onto the timeline.  Is it okay to say that we are just as excited for you to hear CJ’s music as we are for you to see the film?

If you missed the last update, here is a sneak preview (http://bit.ly/k6sVNn) of one of CJ’s original tracks entitled “Patchwork Parade.”

We are awaiting six more tracks from CJ that include some notes that we had.  Those should be delivered to us this week.  We also have a bonus track contributed by Tyshawn Bryant who plays “Mylo” in the film.  We also have holdover tracks from our temp soundtrack contributed by Jordan Allen (who also performs an original song in the film) that really fit the tone of the film and we are keeping on the timeline.  That should round out all the music we need.

We must still complete the overall sound mix.  Thomas Corkran has created soundscapes for each scene.  We need to add all of our sound effects, make sure our music is where we want it to be, and EQ the whole thing.

Beyond the sound, we are down to Color Correction and finalizing our Opening / Closing Titles.

That is where we stand to complete the film.  It has been a laborious journey to get this far and we are almost there thanks to the efforts of many.

Our work doesn’t end there.

We then will turn our attention back to fulfilling all of our Kickstarter promises while gearing up to release the film.  More on that front after we get the film done (and that day is coming.)

Thank you for your love and support,

David Branin & the Goodbye Promise Team
