Want to help fulfill the need for a gigantic portrait of the five characters from Samuel Beckett's masterpiece? Look no further.
THE ONLY THING I'M SURE OF IS THAT THEY'RE WEARING BOWLERS:
Completing 'The Godot Project'
In the winter of 2011 I completed the first two parts of this project, two paintings entitled, individually, "Gogo" and "Didi". I was inspired to create the pieces by Samuel Beckett's masterpiece, Waiting For Godot. Each piece measured approximately six (6) feet wide and fifteen (15) feet tall.
My plan is to complete three further pieces, "Pozzo", "Lucky", and "Garçon", in the same size, style and media and seek exhibition for all 5 pieces. When hung side by side they will create a single portrait of all 5 characters which will measure approximately fifteen (15) feet tall and thirty (30) feet wide. The physical scale of my project is a reflection of what I believe to be the magnitude of Beckett's creation, and a tribute to it.
Your contribution will pay for materials to complete the remaining pieces and to design and implement a mounting system for all five pieces at once (I've done it with two, and let me tell you, it's no mean feat!), production costs of the backer incentives I'm offering here on Kickstarter, submission fees for various calls for entry, and some of the travel costs if the pieces are accepted for exhibition outside of my home state.
Some questions you might have:
What happens if the money isn’t raised within 30 days?
Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands. Your credit card or debit card will not be charged.
