We know, we know, another kickstarter project. Think of it more as a pre-order for our new record rather than helping us pay for it ;)
Joshua P. James and the Paper Planes formed in early 2011 and started working on crafting a tight set of original tunes with great haste. We played our first show in April of 2011 and decided not to stop once we realized how fun this could really be. At some point in between then and now, we decided to put together a record and do this thing proper. We scraped and saved from tip jars and entertainment gigs to get ourselves going with Jay Alton at Sonic Lounge studios in November of 2011. We laid down all the bones to two-inch tape in a 20 hour marathon and finished all the fine points at Jay Alton studios over the next couple of months. The record was mastered at Magic Garden by Brian Lucey who has worked with everyone from the Black Keys and the Shins to Dr. John and beyond. We are very proud of the effort and excited to get the product in people's hands. We knew we wanted to capture all our hard work on vinyl and give that big upright bass some room to breathe so that's what we've done. As many of you out there know, pressing to vinyl is not inexpensive. Nor, should it be, however, though all our thriftiness, our band account came up a scant few bills short of our project total, so to climb out of debt as quickly as possible we Paper Planes have decided to call upon you, our fans, our extended family, for a little boost. We'd like you to think of this as more of a pre-order than a solicitation of your hard earned cash. We know how precious of a commodity that can be. Thank you much for your support! The official release of our debut record "Please, Please" will be taking place at KOBO in Columbus, OH on April 21. We look forward to seeing you all sooner than later.
