A collaborative project where three budding playwrights must write a short play based upon the theme "Just Beyond Reach".
Shark Eat Muffin Theatre Company's inaugural performance is lovingly called "Variations on a theme". We asked our patrons for suggested themes on our Facebook page and after collecting a couple dozen we had our board members draw one from a hat. The theme "Just Beyond Reach" was drawn enabling out playwrights to get to work.
Three playwrights from various background and abilities in playwriting had one month to write upon said theme. The three short plays are then work-shopped between the playwrights before being handed over to the director/s for casting and a full production.
The production dates will be September 27th, 28th and 29th at the Falcon Theatre in Newport, Kentucky. We are hoping the success of this project will lead to many more performances and the goal is to have Variations on a theme become an annual event.
This project gives an opportunity and a voice to new writing in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, showcasing local talent in a number of theatrical disciplines.
The money from this Kickstarter will fund the production costs related to our first show "Just Beyond Reach" including venue rental, costumes, sets, actors and marketing.

Scientists have been studying the effects that pastries have on sharks for years and the data is quite surprising. Sharks, while more likely to enjoy a cupcake have been observed chomping down on the occasional muffin that falls into shark infested waters. I think we can safely say, looking at the scientific data, that sharks do, in fact, consider muffins part of their diet.
