This is the letter I wrote to my incredible team. I wanted to share it with you, our backer, so that you too could join in the celebration of a job well done! We could not have done it without your help! Continued Thanks!!!
Dear Cast and Crew of SILK (or should I say "Dear SILK-Makers" )
It is with the deepest gratitude I write this morning to thank you for all the work you did to make our film possible.
As our brilliant lead actress, Shohreh, said it truly was a "labor of love."
There
are so many people I want to single out, so many moments I want to
remember, so many hours I want to relive.....and now, we will have a
beautiful film to memorialize our shared experience.
Everybody
worked tirelessly for little to nothing in return, and for that I will
forever be grateful. I wish I had a million dollars to pay you all...in
my heart I am writing those checks!!!!
I
have worked on hundreds of sets and seen thousands of people come and
go in the business.....Our set, the set of SILK, was as grounded and
dedicated as any set, big or small, I have ever been on.
Yes....working
conditions could have been cushier...but goodness knows Gary-Crafty's
Popsicles and coffee coolers helped buffer the heat and cramped
quarters!!
I had so much fun....as one might be able to tell by the photographs
captured by out fantastic photographer Christopher. I don't remember
kicking my leg up in glee so many times, but clearly I was having a good
time. : )
The time and effort each and everyone of you put into SILK was
astonishing. And I think we can all agree the love and commitment that
the entire cast brought to work everyday---the unbridled love of the
work---made all of us feel we were engaged in something very special. "Very special ! " as the delightful David Diaan playing Sameer would say.
At
some point we will have a wrap/ viewing party....you and a guest will
come and we will together toast the dedication and hard work of this
extraordinary collective...
----This talented, loving, generous and vivacious team.
Thank
you all from the bottom of my heart. There is not a single one of you I
would not feel honored and lucky to have on my next project....if the
path takes me there, I hope you will be with me.
Since I cannot single everyone out here...know that I am keenly aware of the specific jobs each and every one of you did---- Costumes and make-up; sets and transportation...gaffers and grips, Pa's and UPM's, camera and catering......
And when I see you again, I will tell you what I witnessed.
It was all good. : )
Many many thanks
wow---my first directing experience
If it gets any better, I might explode!!!!
Much love to you all,
Catherine
