Wish you could keep the tiles in games like Carcassonne perfectly straight and organized? Now you can! Works with many games!

You love tile placement games, like Carcassonne, Alhambra, Tile Chess, Batt'l Kha'os, Ark of the Covenant, and Micropul. You don't love the annoyances that come with tile placement games, however, like crooked rows, sloppy placement of the tiles, games ruined because someone elbows a whole section of tiles out of place reaching for the chips, etc.
Kinico Game Grids solves all of those problems. If you haven't already, watch the video to see exactly how the patent-pending Game Grids work.

Reasons You Will Never Play Without Game Grids Again Once You've Tried Them:
- No more crooked rows of tiles
- Tiles are easier to pick up and move
- With minimal effort, games can be paused, moved (to another room/table), and resumed with all game tiles in their correct spot
- You can play off the edge of the table
- Much easier to play in grass, on thick carpet, or on a blanket or the sand at the beach
- Your game won't be ruined if the table gets bumped
- It's super-easy to place, pick up, and move a tile that's surrounded by other tiles
- Makes it much easier to see if two pieces in Tile Chess are in the same row or diagonal if they're not close to each other
- All tiles are exactly where they're supposed to be, all the time!
Another great thing about the Game Grids is that they work with many different games! Basically, any game that has tiles the exact same size as Carcassonne will work.
Right now, the list of compatible games includes...
- Carcassonne
- Alhambra
- Tile Chess
- Ark of the Covenant
- Batt'l Kha'os
And any "Print and Play" game that uses square tiles will work as well, like...
- Micropul
- Wend
- Wheels of Steel
- Snake Pit
- Tiles
How many Game Grids do I need?
It depends on which games you play.
You need a set of 9 Game Grids if you play...
- Batt'l Kha'os
- Ark of the Covenant
- Alhambra (with no more than 3 players)
- Carcassonne (base game only)
- Might also work for Tile Chess for 2-3 players, depending on how spread out your game gets.
- 9 Game Grids will hold 144 tiles.
You need a set of 16 Game Grids if you play...
- Carcassonne (With expansions)
- Alhambra (with more than 3 players)
- Tile Chess (with more than 3 players)
- 16 Game Grids will hold 256 tiles.
You need a set of 25 Game Grids if you play...
- MASSIVE games of Carcassonne. If you like to combine several base games and several expansions together and play a humongous game of Carcassonne, then you'll need 25 Game Grids.
- 25 Game Grids will hold 400 tiles.
You need a set of 36 Game Grids if you play...
- The largest games of Carcassonne anyone has ever seen. If you play games this large, than you definitely need Game Grids to keep every tile in place.
- 36 Game Grids has enough spots for 576 tiles! Sweet!
Why are there so many different reward levels?
I wanted to make it easy for everyone to find exactly the kind of reward they wanted. I also didn't want to make anyone buy a type of reward that included an item they didn't want. Basically, there are three main items you can choose for rewards.
- Game Grids- In sets of 9, 16, 25, or 36
- A velvet drawstring pouch
The pouch will have my website's logo printed on it. It's big. I usually play with the base game, the mini-expansion, and the Inns and Cathredrals expansion. It holds all 102 Carcassonne tiles, and is still barely half-full! So if you have a pouch for tile games that's too small, this pouch should do the job, and still have room to spare.
- Rubber Feet
The rubber feet are perfect for making sure your Game Grids, game board, dice tower, miniatures, and/or other gaming products don't slide around on your table. They are very small, and very thin. You won't even notice they are there!
I've arranged the rewards so that you can choose whatever combination of rewards you want. So, for example, if you want a set of 16 Game Grids with 64 rubber feet, you can choose that reward. If you want 9 Game Grids and a pouch, you can choose that. If you don't play tile placement games, but want to support this project anyway, you can choose a reward like a velvet pouch, or a set of 50 rubber feet, and so on. Be sure to read the reward description so you know how many Grids to order, based on what game you like to play.
The Game Grids will be made with a type of hard plastic that the manufacturer has assured me will not warp. They will be black.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The main challenge in completing this project is the amount of time it will take to organize the products and ship all the packages. First of all, I have already located vendors for supplies like shipping boxes, so I won't be wasting any time scrambling around trying to figure that out at the last minute.
Also, members of my family have volunteered to assist with the packaging tasks when that time comes. And as a teacher, I will have some upcoming holiday times where I will be able to devote my time to the project 24/7.
As far as the challenges that go along with actually producing the Game Grids, I'm not worried about that at all. I discussed this project with 11 different manufacturers, and found a company that communicates extremely well, produced a great prototype grid (quickly!), and had great references. I have total confidence that they will be able to produce high quality Game Grids.
FAQ
-
Carcassonne-sized tiles fit the best. They measure just a hair longer than 1 3/4 inches. I'd put it at 1.77 inches square, or 45 mm.
-
Yes, you can! For example, let's say you want to pledge $45 for 16 Game Grids and 64 rubber feet, but you also want to buy extra rubber feet for other gaming products you own. If you want to buy 50 extra rubber feet, just add $5 to your pledge. If you want to buy 100 extra rubber feet, just add $8 to your pledge. This will allow you to save a few dollars.

The prototype Game Grids are 7 9/16 inches square, and 3/16 inches tall.
-
I'd love to. But one Game Grid project at a time! I've actually posted a list of square tile placement games that could use Game Grids (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/147084/list-of-square-tile-placement-games-and-the-size-o). In the future, I'd like to make Grids for hex-tiles, and maybe a double-sided Grid with a one size on one side, and another size on the other. Lots of different things we could do. But we've got to make this campaign a success first!

Yep.
There's The Keep- a system for storing and easily transporting all your different games. I've backed them, and encourage you to do so as well: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1286842883/the-keep-system-for-game-storage-and-travel?ref=category

It's free!
-
Each Grid is a 4x4 grid, so each one holds 16 tiles.
-
The final product will be black. The white Game Grids shown above are the official prototype I received from the manufacturer. For some reason, it couldn't be made in black.
-
No they don't, but the Grids sliding around really isn't an issue. I've played dozens of games with the Game Grid prototypes, and it really doesn't happen much. Of course, it also depends what type of surface you're playing on. If you're really worried about it, you can put rubber feet on them.
