So.
As the storm of the final week crescendoes, I don't have much more to say about the show.
The elements are gathering.
Prepare yourselves.
So.
A lot to accomplish this week! Finishing props and costumes, tightening the show, ordering more rope...
We had our first tech day on Saturday, and it was a success, in that we got the basic structures of the mighty hall Heorot and the dragon's wings set. The actors have been adjusting to the space remarkably well, and their focus is sharpening as we approach our opening (and press!) night.
In the past couple of weeks, I have decided that the show needs some extra sound to embellish the atmosphere and action, and have welcomed aboard Jamie Gates to provide us with live foley. This will be interesting, and he has a lot of great ideas. We're keeping it simple and efficient. In keeping things as immediate and intimate as possible, we want to create all sound effects live in the space. This is immersive storytelling!
As far as rewards go, I will be sending out surveys this week to get all relevant info regarding tickets and names and posters etc. In between designing and building and postering and rehearsing of course!
So the guardian of the mound,
the hoard-watcher, waited for the gloaming
with fierce impatience; his pent-up fury
at the loss of the vessel made him long to hit back
and lash out in flames. Then, to his delight,
the day waned and he could wait no longer
behind the wall, but hurtled forth
in a fiery blaze.
So. The Spear-Danes in days gone by
and the kings who ruled them had courage and greatness.
We have heard of those princes' heroic campaigns.
We made it! Thank you all so much for supporting our campaign. You are all kings (and queens) and heroes.
We've entered the scary part of rehearsals, where we have but one week until we get into the space to tech, and only three until the show premieres. The show is falling into place, beat by beat, and with the encouragement your support gives us, we'll be flying along into May 31.
I will be contacting each of you about the rewards, so I can personalize every one. Even if you've chosen "no reward" I'd still like to include your name in thanks at the very least.
Until the next update, I'd like to share with you a bit of string.
The raven winging
darkly over the doomed will have news,
tidings for the eagle of how he hoked and ate,
how the wolf and he made short work of the dead.
