By teaching others how to eat better using old-world methods, I feel I can better serve and entertain my audiences.

I am a historical cook who travels across the Midwestern U.S. performing demonstrations on renaissance cooking. Annually, I perform at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and the Siouxland Renaissance Festival, provide education based workshops for St. Paul Public School’s Community Education Programs, and write the food articles for Renaissance Magazine. If you would like to learn more about what I do, you can visit my website at http://alicethecook.com.

People have lost touch with the art form of crafting meals for the family and I want to bring it back. While I've been told that my shows and lectures are interesting and entertaining, I feel more can be done.

I know the audience enjoys the smell of wood smoke on the air at the shows, but I think the smell of cooking and baking can add to it. Also, I think the audiences would appreciate being able to watch bread being made as it was, up close and personal (10' - 20' away). The key, is the ability to take the oven with us to each of our shows.

I’ve wanted to expand my demonstrations and build a wood-burning oven that can be transported to each of my show locations so that my demonstrations can include historical bread and pastry making techniques. The oven displayed in this campaign is very similar to the one I want to create, but I am open to other concepts.

I hope you all can help. This is something I’ve wanted to do for awhile, but my own personal finances won’t let me accomplish it.
