About this project
"Chance Of Rain" is a short film by award winning director/actor Philipp C. Wolter. The team behind the project consists of highly professional filmmakers who have joined forces to bring this film to life and tell a visually striking and emotional story.
Funds will be put towards set design, location fees, crew and rental equipment such as camera, lights and.....rain.
Synopsis:
Two people, one location. As Jason ducks into a psychic parlor during the pouring rain, little does he know that he will be faced with a choice which will define the rest of his life.
Director's statement:
"Chance of Rain", a story based on a play written by Chisa Hutchinson, tells the story of two characters who are brought together by fate and have to make the ultimate choice of life or death. I saw this as a staged reading and was completely drawn into the heart wrenching circumstances that these two characters find themselves in. It's a simple story with a rather simple setup and yet so impacting with a wonderful twist at the end....I thought it would make for an amazing short film. Three years later we finally decided to approach the writer as the story never really left me and had always been in the back of my head. For the cast, Michelle Glick, my wife, came very naturally. Our DP Eun-ah Lee encouraged me to take over the male part and eased my concern about acting and directing at the same time. Our working relationship is based on a lot of trust and we have very similar tastes...and I know she will be my right hand whenever I need to focus on being an actor.
Technical Notes:
The film will be shot on the RED camera and will be shot in NYC. We will use a tremendous amount of prop lights to give the film a very unique and natural look. The set design will be elaborate with many mystical items which will also add to the overall look at the film. Glass, beads, crystals, curtains...all will be integrated into the cinematography and the set designer, the DP and even the composer will work very close together to combine all the elements into one complete and enticing experience.
Why Another Short Film, you ask?
During our travels over this past year to film festivals all over the world with our last short film, The Bridge, we realized that short films are in a world all their own. That there is power (and a great challenge) in telling a story in 15 minutes or less that is engaging and that has an arc. With the way technology is changing - we believe that there will be more and more of an opportunity to see short films other than at film festivals. The landscape is changing - and FilmGym intends to be on this forefront. Also, having a portfolio of award-winning shorts is a necessary marketing tool for any up and coming director and/or film production company, enabling us to open the necessary doors to making our first feature, scheduled for 2012.
Thank you so much for believing in this project and in The FilmGym community. We promise to keep delivering award-winning films that will inspire you and spark a passion for short films.
Humbly,
Philipp Wolter

The FilmGym began as a playground for actors and filmmakers to get together and work on their craft. The goal was to create original material and further develop the craft of acting and directing through a devoted and accomplished group of artists. Through this diverse and experimental approach, several unique and visually stunning pictures have come out of the gym.
Today, The FilmGym is a full-blown production company which has produced award-winning short films, commercials and music videos. It continues to serve the film community through workshops and seminars, and in keeping with the spirit of its collaborative beginnings, The FilmGym Community showcases the work of a variety of selected filmmakers.
