John Paul Marcelo

Connected as John Paul Marcelo (562 friends)

Hi there ! :o) I'm a plein air painter based in San Francisco. I started painting in my hometown of Chicago ( B.A. Design/Fine Arts Columbia College '99 ) 11 years ago and, enticed by the nature, moved to California. My life's work is about documenting the contrast between environmental & industrial disasters vs. pristine natural settings. Inspired by many San Francisco Bay area local collectives I started to paint the opposite of nature. Some of their projects have lead me to places like post Katrina New Orleans and India (pollution of the Ganges River, Union Carbide Factory). When I'm not painting disaster scenes, I can be found painting on the streets of San Francisco and the East Bay, on the beaches of Marin, or atop the cliffs of Big Sur.
