Some Preliminary Images from the Nun Doll Museum
Dearest Patrons,
I am currently returning from my visit to India River Michigan where I spent three days archiving the dolls and so much more. I met a young woman named Sarah, age 19, who is about to enter the cloister where she plans to live with 7 other Nuns for the rest of her life. Once she enters, she will be unable to see her friends ever again, and her family will only be permitted to visit once a month for one hour. She came over to my cabin for dinner where we talked and she showed me the engagement ring she bought herself recently, and wears as a sign that she is taken.
The people at the museum were incredibly generous, even encouraging me to try on one of the habits on display. Those images are to come...
I will keep you all posted as the project develops, but I hope you enjoy these first images to start!
Best,
Julia
Keep Pledging!
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your support on this project. I am amazed at how quickly I reached my goal. My initial speculated budget was extremely modest, so if I can keep raising funds, I can put that money towards printing the artist books and making the photos that I owe you all as rewards for your pledge.
Also, I would love to be able to spend a bit more on the website, as $1,000 does not get you very far with a web-designer these days.
I have until January 6th, so if you think you know someone who would be interested in the project, please pas along the link!
Love,
Julia
