About this project
Stitched www.stitchedfilm.com and www.facebook.com/stitchedfilm is a documentary that gives viewers a glimpse at the life of competitive quilters.
It revolves around the Houston quilt show, the largest event in the nation with more than 50,000 quilters in attendance. Hundreds compete to win the quilting competition held during the annual show. Who will win Best of Show in 2010?
Each of the three quilters featured in this film has left a mark in the quilting world.
Caryl Bryer Fallert was the first to win a big prize with a quilt she made with a sewing machine at a time when hand made quilts were valued.
Hollis Chatelain won the coveted Best of Show award at the Houston quilt festival, the nation's largest quilt show with a quilt she painted. She is now using her quilts to highlight some of the world's social and environmental ills. http://imaginehopeworldwide.org/
Randall Cook's quilt displaying male nudes was featured in an article about shocking quilts.
All three race to compete their quilts, sometimes juggling busy careers.
The Stitched team needs cash to pay for the duplication of the more than 5,000 DVDs made for the first release. Thanks to our generous donors, we've already reached our target fundraising goal of $500 but it will cost $1 for production of each DVD.
We want to sell the film to quilters, art lovers and documentary buffs.

Connected as Jena Moreno (5195 friends)
Jena is an award-winning newspaper journalist and launched her writing career in 1996 at the Brownsville Herald. She now follows airlines and shipping at the Houston Chronicle. She's covered everything from the economic crisis in Argentina to olive oil production in Spain during her 14-year journalism career.
This University of Houston graduate spends her free time making Stitched and a travel show.
Her family is supporting her in the production of this movie by doing everything from running camera to making tacos for the crew. Her husband is the cameraman and editor of Stitched.
The crew of 3 began working on Stitched in late 2009. What made us want to work on a documentary about quilting when we could have been perfectly happy working our already fulfilling regular jobs? Maybe we just like challenges.
She enjoys traveling and has visited several Latin American and European nations and dreams of promoting Stitched internationally.
Jena loves to ride her scooter around Houston and spend time with her husband and Cocker Spaniel.
She grew up in Houston and lived in Brownsville, Texas, Mexico City and Washington, DC for work.
