Here's the article from the Nevada Day Appeal. We are getting some notice! We have reached 1% of our goal so there is still plenty of time to back us.

"A local Carson City video production company is raising money to broadcast the Nevada Day Parade on the internet via live streaming.

“Last year we did it with a couple of guys with cameras standing on the side of the road with pieced together, borrowed equipment, and it was OK,” said owner of We Shoot Video, Keith Barnett.

“But this year we want to scale it up and do it right, and to do this, we have set up a project on Kickstarter

.com to raise money for the equipment we need,” he said.

This equipment is specific to the broadcast and not what Barnett normally uses for his video production company. The equipment needed will cost at least $3500. He also is looking for volunteers.

Hi Everybody!

Only 22 days left to be a part of this great project! We have heard from a lot of you and have received many encouraging words. So glad to know there's so much enthusiasm for the Nevada Day Parade Broadcast.

We know the economy is harsh right now and money is tight. Which is why we started our pledge level at only one buck! If you can only back up with one dollar... that's great! That'll put us one dollar closer to our goal.

Well... we've got a lot of folks on FaceBook cheering us on! Good to know there's lots of interest in our project. Thanks so much!

As soon as we make our goal we can start ordering the equipment we need. We are getting the headsets for the hosts, camera folks and the director to hear each other. Last year we were all grouped together on the side of the road and were shouting at each other but we still couldn't hear, so our directions were not as organized as we would like.

This year with the headsets, the hosts will be able to hear the directors directions. Most importantly, the camera people will be able to hear the director. With a camera in the street, we will be able to get some nice close-ups of the entries and the people.

We are selling advertising for the broadcast which will pay for the broadcast time. The adveritizing budget we have set will just cover the broadcast time if we sell every available slot. Last year we had no advertising and broadcast the parade on Usteam (who does not allow advertising) but to help promote the parade and the state of Nevada, we want to be able to advertise all of the great things we have here in NV, like Virginia City, Lake Tahoe, Casinos, Soaring, and other outdoor activities such as off-roading, horseback riding and so much more. So when you watch the parade on the web, you can also see some of the businesses that are here in the state.

So now it's up to you dear friends and family, please pledge what you can. Any amount, our minimum is just one dollar, will help us. Remember if we don't meet our goal, we don't get anything.

So it's been 24 hours since we put this up and no backers. Ok... Deep breath, no need to panic here. It's early... plenty of time. SOMEBODY please pledge!!!!

We haven't been sitting on our laurels though... we've printed out 97 pages of requests for advertisers for the broadcast. We have already sent out about that many earlier and will probably send out at least that many more. Great! Now I have to add stamps, paper, envelopes, and ink to the list of things I don't have the money for. Mac & Cheeze it's gonna be if we don't succeed. YUM!

Ok... Panic time over. We know that the folks out there that can't make it to the parade... as well as our friends and family are not going to let us down. We have faith.

Ok! We put the Project up!

My heart is pounding... will we get any backers? Are there any folks out there that feel the passion for the Nevada Day Parade and the possibilities of broadcasting it live on the internet as we do or are we just nuts?

Well... we may be nuts but that's another story... we know that everyone loves a parade and the Nevada Day Parade is so cool & unique that we know we'll succeed!
